Just scratching the surface today.. so far I'm really into it though. Civ 5 in space, perfect for what I was hoping for.

I've put in about 8 hours so far (on a ridiculously busy weekend so that's a testament to the game) but I have to say I'm a tad disappointed. Still the same Civ addictiveness but feels very much like it should be a Civ 5 mod rather than a stand-alone game (especially if you have the Civ 5 expansions like Gods and Kings). Apparently, there is more that differentiates it - like the quests - but the interface is very obtuse (especially for those aforementioned quests). Still going to play the s*** out of it but I think Dan can hold off for a Steam sale. Will be writing a review soon.

Wow thanks for the impressions Macca. It looks like they will eventually sort out all of the glitches like they have in the past. I'll wait for this to go on sale.

Big disappointment.
I don't disagree with anything you said.. but something about it I really enjoy, maybe it's the space aspect.

Mizzou - trust me, I know what you mean - I played Beyond Earth until almost 3am on a week night - it was nuts. But like I said in the review, I think I would have done the same with vanilla Civ V anyway (which speaks to the genius of the Civ/4X formula) and probably be less frustrated.

I am looking forward to the inevitable expansions for Beyond Earth.
