Thanks, debating this and Ryse at the moment. Ryse has been trashed in reviews but still seems right up my alley.

I enjoy Ryse, but as far as bang for your buck, it's AC4 in a 100 to 1 landslide vote. You could play AC4 for 100 hours. Ryse has a 6 hour campaign.

Haven't played Ryse (obviously), but I still agree with this 100 percent.

I swore I wasn't going to buy this after hating huge swathes of ACIII. But I did, and damn is it good. Easily the best controls and systems in the series. The story is a bit crap compared to ACII (the high point of their character development and storytelling, IMO), but I'm loving the gameplay so I don't care. I wish there were fewer chases, but otherwise it's a ton of fun.

My boy a Teal recommended this as a launch game for me and, boy is it good. I finally put some time (3 hours :)) in with the game yesterday. Holy hell, I couldn't put the controller down. Awesome game. Beautiful graphics. I haven't really scratched the surface but man is it engrossing. It's actually a pretty good game to play on the Vita via remote play. You don't have to be perfect with aiming, etc. like in a FPS. Just explore your ass off. The game really does take you away.

I wanted to try ACBF with remote play on the PS4 (as I mentioned above) and it was great. I posted a link to a video I made below so you can see it running on the Vita. I couldn't really do much because I was recording with one hand but you can see how beautiful the game is on the small screen. Give it a look.

The game is unbelievable. I finished the main 'inside the matrix' campaign a couple weeks ago, but still have a shitload of stuff to do, find, see, explore, and plunder. It's almost overload...but it's so much damned fun. I've just begun doing the Templar Hunts, and they're great fun to do. Got an assassin contract today that was VERY different from your garden variety assassination. Surprising, and quite enjoyable. Hunting whales and sharks, diving the depths in search of treasure, finding messages in bottles, going hunting, searching for buried treasure with old school maps, taking on epic, legendary ships (I have yet to do anything but get my ass handed to me in those, by the way!)...and just deciding to pirate a little out of the blue when it suits me; this is hands down one of my favorite games I've ever played. I had grown sort of tired of the AC series, it was getting a little long in the tooth, and Black Flag totally reinvigorated the genre. Totally.

And this is all on the 360. I know that the newer, shinier versions look better, but this one is brilliant as it is. Gorgeous, engaging, and completely addicting.

Seems to be all ps4 & 360 impressions. I'm guessing it's all the same then.

I have it on the XB1 and it's the second-best looking version. There's nothing wrong with it if that's all you have to compare it to--it's light years better than the 360 version, so you'd be happy with it.

Just got an email that Amazon was having a 50% off sale on Black Flag today. $29.99. If you have been waiting for a sale to play this one, it's more than worth $30.

Outside of 'the purdies', the current gen version is still flat-out amazing. I'm STILL playing it, STILL finding stuff, and STILL have tons left to do. Absolute crack. And it's quite a looker on our current systems.

I almost resurrected this thread myself this morning. I've played it many hours the past few days still, and finally knocked off the last of the forts, did all of the assassin's contracts I can find, have 1 naval contract left that I can't get yet (presumably due to how far along I am in the story), got the full templar armor set, and the entire map is littered with "yellow" icons that I've cleared 100%.

And I'm still on sequence 9 of 12. A month and a half after launch I'm still only 75% of the way through the game, and I don't think I've done a story mission in a week. Every night it's an hour or two of plundering ships (I only have 1 or 2 upgrades left on my ship to get that require me to find plans), hunting, exploring, and then, if I feel inclined, maybe looking for a story mission. I never make it to a story mission before bed time .

I was telling my wife last night, that Diablo 3 has been far and away the most "bang for my buck" I've ever gotten on a console game. AC4 is quickly approaching #2 on that list, right about the same as Red Dead Redemption. Played the snot out of those 3 games.

Just started the game today. First AC game ever to not lose my interest in the first 30 minutes. I haven't even scratched the surface yet

I need to take a break from this game. I'm hearing the shanties in my sleep. :)

I played 4 hours yesterday and moved my completion percentage 1%. Every since I upgraded my mortars, the Caribbean is my playroom.

I got a little obsessed. Except for the Legendary Ships, I've completed everything else on the map - all the chests, challenge bits, Mayan monument things, etc. Got all the outfits and upgrades, and all the non-mulitplayer unlocked sails and such.

Tried one of the Legendary Ship encounters and got my ass handed to me.

This I why I don't play the game more. I know if I turn it on I'm in for a few hours.

Had an absolutely rip roaring battle last night in the midst of a hurricane. Was doing a naval contract that required that I kill two pirate hunters. I started a fight with a large group of British ships in the neighborhood of a fort friendly to me. It turned into an epic, with a dozen ships and the fort all trading shots.

Then the hurricane started.

This was easily the biggest storm that I've seen. Lasted well over 20 minutes of real time and spawned no fewer than 4 rogue waves! I don' think I've ever seen more than 2 in the same storm.

It was so cool. :P

Here's a brief snippet from the tail end of the battle. Maybe someone hasn't played the game yet. This is a taste of how epic and cinematic the sea battles can be.

Ubisoft has the game on sale for $29.99 (all versions) on their website. Use code 10thanks to knock off another 10%. I might have to finally pick this one up.
