OT: RIP Amy Winehouse

No doubt it will probably be directly or indirectly related to drugs.

I was a huge fan and i'm amazed she made it this long. Just like Whitney Houston she got hooked up with the wrong guy who did his share of alcohol and drugs. I remember reading how her parents wished they would go their separate ways but those two were inseparable.

This ranks up there on the surprise meter with "sun rises in east, sets in west." A wasted talent, literally and figuratively.

Sad.

Clearly her answer was, "No, no-no-no."

Sad to see a person go that young, but for Pete's sake who didn't see this coming years ago?

Never was a fan, especially after I saw her jump on stage with the Rolling Stones to sing Honkey Tonk Women. She forgot the words. Most of which are "honkey tonk women".

Bad when you make Keef look sober by comparison.

It's a shame because she was pretty talented, more than most of the pop singers that have mined the same territory. But it's also hard to feel sorry for someone so hell-bent on self-destruction.

Two more items and she could have been the subject of a Queens of the Stone Age song.

Her erratic past shouldn't overshadow her great voice. A pity she couldn't get her life together. What's so sad is that even her parents foresaw this day coming. RIP.

I didn't even know who Amy Winehouse was-had to look it up. So I don't lament it any more than I will when Lindsey Lohan eventually goes there. I'm a counselor, and have done quite alot of addiction counseling in that time. Getting a master's right now in addiction counseling. That being said, though the addiction can be hard to kick, it sure as hell isn't impossible. She didn't seem to have any desire to stop. So...she got what she was after.

Think I'm heartless? Well, not nearly as much as one dude in the comments section of that article you linked to, BG...

"If they cremate her I’d be first in line to buy an 8 ball of some Amy Winehouse."

8O 8O 8O 8O I hate to laugh at that, really I do, but...damn, that was funny...

Most of us run out of money and the support of our friends as we spiral out of control, allowing us to hit bottom in a place we can recover from. Rock stars have an extra challenge of having plenty of money and plenty of friends willing to enable any behavior they choose. So stars like Winehouse hit rock bottom much closer to death than the average Joe.

I'm not excusing her behavior, but there is a good reason 27 seems to be a deadly age for rock stars.

I thought her music was pretty amazing, and it was a shame her addictions prevented her from making more even while she was still alive.

Wow, had no idea she looked that good before. All I ever saw was the junkie. This news however, was as surprising as the govt unable to get the debt ceiling agreement done this weekend.
