OT: Bands that you like more than (gasp) Radiohead

Well, considering the bands mentioned in the long and well-argued Radiohead debate (btw, I have to disagree w/PK on that...but that´s for another thread), I figure people should post bands that they like more than Radiohead.
 
 This isn´t meant to be a "list every band you like more than Radiohead thread", since PK would spend hours at the PC on that one. Instead, just name some bands that you like that you might want to expose to the other DSP denizens.
 
 (and I think there´s an old post like this...but I figure I should just reopen a new one)
 
 I´ll start with some not terribly obscure stuff:
 
 Cornelius - His "Point" album is what pop music should be.
 
 Broadcast - Ethereal, hypnotic, synth-driven excellence. "The Noise Made by People" is probably their best album (even though they´ve only got 3 out me thinks...)
 
 Jaga Jazzist - A great Norwegian band that does great Ninja Tune-ish jazz.
 
 Prefuse 73 - Glitchy hip-hop...very cut-and-paste, yet surprisingly easy to bob your head to. "Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives" is a future classic.
 
 That´s a start...feel free to add others.

 This is about the first bunch I thought of off the top of my head. And it doesn´t include any jazz players, many of whom were doing things 50 years ago for which Radiohead is lauded now.

 Didn´t like Prog-rock the first time around, and don´t like it now. Yorkes silly lyrics and the bands banal "experiments" are no more engrossing than ELP´s bloated soundscapes of 30 years ago.

 The last time the Rolling Stones made a relevant record, I was 3...and I´m now 36.
 
 The Beatles..I hate every f**king piece of Scouse skiffle that they ever produced, and the fact that a ***** like Paul McCartney is worth an estimated £500m is a sad reflection upon the IQ of the average human being.
 
 Other than that, and the fact that they were Scousers, I have nothing against them.

 I´m one of the few Doors´ fans, I think, that doesn´t worship at the cult of Morrison. I think his lyrics often are as dopey and illogical as the overrated Dave Matthews, for sure.
 
 But I really, really dig the Doors´ music. Love the mix of Manzarek´s organ and Krieger´s guitar, especially. Morrison also had a good voice.

Well, I own at least one CD from just about every band listed so far here (yes, even Can) and I do NOT own one Radiohead CD. So there (that is not to say I do not appriciate them) !!!

 Phish - Best ´jam´ band around, no question (***** all the other s*** hippie wannabe bands)
 
 Grateful Dead - Most people do NOT ´get it´ with them, which I totally understand. I ´get it´. Nuff said.
 
 Don Cabellero - Math rock at its best !
 
 Motley Crue - Will always have a HUGE spot in my heart for their first two albums. You can burn all their other crap.

Math rock is a term for a genre of complex, instrumental (although not always) music, where there are multiple time singiture and theme changes in one song of which some portions will have each instrument playing an almost completely different time or melody at one time but they all come together virtually seemlessly (among other elements).
 
 The music ends up sounding like the band is playing math equations rather than a simple beat or groove which might seem emotionless or sterile to some. However, when it is done right, as with Don Cabellero, the music is anything but sterile !

 You can still drop by DT Towers if you are ever over, just leave the Oasis CDs behind.
 
 Oh, and for those of you still pining for some experimental tunes without the ´head up thine own arse´ attitude, cop hold of a copy of Mogwai´s "Happy Music for Happy People".
