That's a shame. Olsen was a great player, excellent announcer, and he was excellent on "Little House on the Prairie!"
RIP.

I was 10 years old when the Rams lost the 76 NFC championship game to the Vikings. I remember being sad that day. Not sad because for the third straight year they had lost in the final game before the SB. That part more pissed me off. I was sad because it was Merlins last game.....I feel that same sadness again today...
He was a class guy always.
R.I.P. Merlin.

Little House is where I remember him from first, it was only later I knew him as an NFL announcer and lastly as a player.
Merlin Olsen a true talent in many fields.

Very sad indeed. Merlin Olsen was a great guy.Rodster wrote:The NBC team of Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson was as good as John Madden and Pat Summerall.
On another sad note it was announced that former Dolphins Tight End Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich is battling cancer as well.
It's the first time that I heard that Jim Mandich had cancer. I always listened to him on the weekends when I lived in Miami. He's the reason why I say MEESH - i - gan to this day.
