Nice, and good for you. A third CPU loss and Terry would have turned the next power rankings into the XXXIV Madden Comedy Roast. :D

I wish we didn't have to wait until the offseason for the draft board. I'm ready to start overanalyzing my top-5 pick now.

Wait... you mean its not already?

I should have lost that one too. Thinking it was over was probably what saved me. For some reason I just keep getting worse and worse. I even Rackersed one of my 2 missed fgs from short range.

Im starting to think it really is getting close to that time for me...

On my first drive vs the cpu cardinals Jackson, Avery and Bulger were all injured. Bulger would not return.

Jackson has had some kind of injury in every game. The last one has had him miss one fourth quarter and one game with one game to go.

he has a 90+ injury rating...so...wtf?!

Badgun, I'm good for our game either Thursday night after 9pm CST or Friday after 9:30. Thursday is best though. Let me know what works for you.

Broncos survive late 49er surge, escape with a 27-20 win

Things we're looking good for Denver despite not being able to muster much offense in the first half. Ayers started the scoring with a 24 yard pick 6 off of Hill. Denver followed that up with Prater field goal and a McAllister run and were in command 17-0. The 49ers capitalized on the first of two Kelly James of interceptions and managed to hit a field goal right before half to make it 17-3.

Prater accounted for the only 3rd quarter points with a field goal. The 49ers then mounted their first real offense of the game and drove down field this drive would move into the 4th quarter. The Niners couldn't punch it in however and turned the ball over on downs.

As James came to the line he read an all out blitz and audibled, he actually had two men running free down field but choose Gaffney and hit him for a 54 yard strike.

With just over 11 minutes left the Broncos thought this one in the bag. However on the first play from scrimmage Hill hit Frank Gore on a screen and some really bad stick handling and 3 whiffed tackles later and gore had scampered 75 yards. After a successful 2 point conversion the 49ers managed to make up 8 points in 20 seconds.

Denver then went downfield again on it's next drive and where in field goal range when James tried to force another pass and was picked again. The Niners on the back of Vernon Davis marched down field but Hill chucked one up for Crabtree in double coverage and Bailey picked him off, I was unable to down the ball so fearing a saftey carried it out to the 3.

The Niners shut me down on 3 straight attempts and I was forced to punt. Which led to me witnessing the first blocked punt i have ever seen in Madden in all my years of playing this game. Luckily that blocked ended in a safety and the score was no 27-13.

The Niners fielded the punt off the safety and again marched down field, converting on 4-15 once. Denver got a litt stout at the goal line and forced San Fran to use up a lot of clock. they managed to score and were down by 7 but there was under 30 seconds on the clock.

The Onside kick was unsuccessful, if not a bit scary as Brandon Lloyd fielded it and wouldn't get on the ground. An Denver ran out of the bay, happy with a win.

---

Bill great showing for your first human game. I have no idea why our headsets weren't working, I woudl of told you that a QB sneak when the Defender is in Goal line D means you lose control. I think you figured that out by now.

Great game though, good luck you have a good Defensive front 7 to build on.

Giants Ground Eagles 40-10

Flush with confidence from their second half stand against the Titans, the Giants defense pounded the suddenly inept Eagles, forcing 3 fumbles, 2 interceptions and dealing extended injuries to DeSean Jackson (3 weeks, Broken Ribs) and Jeremy Maclin (10 weeks, Fractured Foot).

The only blemish on the scoresheet for the defense would be this 69 yard TD run by McCoy where the last man back slipped and fell in the rainy conditions.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Eli Manning would post an efficient 17-26-234 line with 2 TDs and no interceptions. Kevin Boss benefited most from the Eagles defensive gameplan as we would snag 6 receptions for 97 yards and the following uncontested score.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

That score would give the Giants a 13-7 halftime lead. A Giants TD and a Philadelphia FG would be the only scoring in the third and when Brandon Jacobs capped a 4th quarter drive with a punch-in score, the lead had grown to 26-10.

The final Eagle desperation drives were stifled by a resurgent Giants defnse.

Titans end the Colts winning streak. . .

Post by tmdba37 »

Titans 31 Colts 10

The Indianapolis Colts win streak is halted at six as the Titans use some key plays and a bit of luck to pull back within a game of the division leading Colts.

The game was setting up to be an early offensive shootout, but both teams shot themselves in the foot on their opening possessions. . .
Driving and in the Red Zone, Peyton Manning is picked off by a leaping Akeem Jordan:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Titans took off and quickly made a few first downs, but unfortunately, Chris Johnson didn’t realize how hard Bob Sanders can hit. . .he knows that now as Sanders laid him and the ball out on the turf:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Titans held the Colts to a FG and the Titans marched back down the field and Donovan McNabb hit Nate Washington for a clutch 15 yard TD pass on third and long inside the 20 to take the lead 7-3:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Later in the Second Quarter, the teams would trade Touchdowns, as Brian Westbrook would catch a ball in the flat and take it 66 yards to the house and then the Colts would return serve, with Peyton Manning surgically taking apart the Titans Defense and capping off a long drive with a Joseph Addai TD run with only 36 seconds on the clock before halftime.
As such, the Colts felt good with an uneven half and a 14-10 deficit, but disaster was just around the corner . . . Punter Pat McAfee slips while kicking off and plops a duck of a kick right into the arms of the up-man Javon Ringer. . .Ringer subsequently takes it to the house:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

This turned out to be the play of the game as the Titans were much happier with a two-score lead going into the second half at 21-10.
In the third quarter, the Colts would intercept McNabb on the first possession of the half, but disaster would strike again on the ensuing drive when the Colts seemingly picked up a 4th and very short one inside the 20, but the CPU Refs and the CPU Replays surprisingly said otherwise. . .a very unfortunate and really unfair turn of events for Coach Brady and the Colts. The Titans would take the ball back down the field and kick a FG to make the score 24-10.

To close out the scoring, the Titans would beat a sold out Colts Defense with a long play action pass to rookie WR, DJ Crosby for a 74 yard TD:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

At the end of the game, the Titans outgained the Colts 430 to 291 with solid games by Donovan McNabb, 12-18, 280 yards, 3TD and 1 INT, Chris Johnson pitched in 100 yards even on 13 carries and Brian Westbrook would finish a hair under 100 yards receiving grabbing 4 catches for 94 yards and the earlier mentioned TD.

Peyton Manning was a bit off again, throwing three picks and finishing the game completing 18 of 25 for 228 yards and no TDs. The Colts Defense did force three turnovers. . .two fumbles and a pick.

Both the Colts and Titans are on a bye next week. . .the Colts will host Dallas in Week 9 and the Titans will go to Kansas City and in Week 11 the Colts will have a chance at redemption against the Titans at home in Lucas Oil Stadium.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scoop,
Good game. This contest was probably a lot closer than the final score shows. . .clearly, that Kickoff Return really changed the flow of the game. . .plus you definitely got jobbed on that 4th and Inches call. . .anyway, good luck over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be right back at it in Week 11. . .
Thanks again
-Todd

Guys I am sorry for my lack of following up on the Free agents, I will get around to it. We're having some family issues here at home.

My oldest daughter (6) is adopted and even though this is not a secret and we openly talk about it and occasionally see her birth mom, something this week clicked for her and she is starting to have some confusion, questions an anxiety. So much so she has sort of sleep walked into our roomn the last couple of night.

Needless to say my mind is elsewhere and when things actually settle down like right now, I'd prefer to go do something mindless.

Anyway probably a lot more details then I needed to share, point being I'll get the rest of the Free Agents up soon.

Hey Badgun. Sorry I missed our game tonight. I was at my wife's grandmother's 80th bday party and it went a hell of a lot later then I thought it would. I'm going to leave so you can play the CPU tomorrow or Sunday on your schedule. Sorry again.

Hey man, I sent you a message on Xbox Live. No need to drop out unless you just won't be able to play it at all. We can play this morning, if you can swing that. Say about 11 AM your time. Or even late tonight around 11PM your time. And there's always Sunday if you want to try and get it in around 10 AM your time.

Danimal doesn't roll the league over until midnight Sunday, so we still have a few chances to get it in if you want to. That is provided you have the time this weekend. Just let me know, I'll work with you dude.

Cleveland hosted New England on a Monday Night for a pivotal early season AFC match up. Cleveland knew coming in they needed a win as they are already looking ahead to their week 9 meeting with the defending Champion Oakland Raiders. This showed from the opening kickoff as they came out flat. New England took the opening drive into Cleveland territory but the secondary tightened their belts and got their first of three picks from Brady.

The offense had their heads buried and just when it was looking like 3 and out after the D got the turnover, Coach Nozzle decided to give his rookie kicker a shot at another long field goal. (hit from 50 last week)

HE didn't let his coach down and hit this one was from SIXTY!!!
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

New England answered easily with a 65 yard from Fred Taylor (sorry Pats fans, no video)

On the ensuing kickoff, another rookie edition showed for the second straight week he deserves to be a the returner and one of the go to guys. Nozzle had been thinking the last few weeks of letting Cribbs return kicks again, but decided to stay with the rookie as Josh was contributing a lot more as a receiver. Here, Bellows takes the kick to the house for 100 yards!
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Early in the 2nd, Cribbs caught a Quinn pass over the middle, breaking 4 tackles, he scrambled 47 yards to the end zone to put Cleveland up 17-7. It looked as if the Browns special teams play and lack of tacking took what little air the Pats had in their sails as all they could manage the rest of the half was two field goals and while driving for their third before the half ended, Brandon McDonald picked off Brady and took it 100 yards to end the half.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

At this point, the game seemed to be decided at the half with Cleveland leading 24-10. The Patriots came out fighting and each team exchanged turnovers. With New England within two scores on another field goal. Cleveland was running the clock and looking towards the 4th when Jamal Lewis broke one untouched. He rambled through a hole the size of Massachusetts and took the pigskin 47 yards all but sealing the deal.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Cleveland went into clock management mode in the 4th and their defense played bend but don't break. They allowied another field goal (New England's 4th of the game) and Brandon McDonald got another pick (Brady's 3rd) and returned it 50 yards for 6 points which capped another Defensive win for Brownies.

Final............45-19. Cleveland hosts the win-less Bengals next week. Nozzle is trying to keep the team focused to avoid the overlook loss as they look forward to their bay area battle in Oakland.

Week is flipped

Ok so I have to go to Indy this weekend and work an event at the AFC championship game. I'm leaving on Friday and not returning to Monday sometime.

So I'm going to make the next official flip on Monday 25th 10pm CT

However if everyone gets their games in by Thursday night I'll make the flip then, but I'm not sure everyone can get it done in 4 days.

EDIT: Oh and for everyone who wrote me privately about the situation with my daughter, my heart felt thanks. It all worked itself out.

Ack, started playing my league game, and then, Red Ring of Death.

Con: I bought my 360 three years and two months ago, putting it just outside of the manufacturer's RROD warranty.

Pro: I bought a one-year replacement warranty that kicks in after the manufacturer's warranty expires; so I should be good for a free replacement.

Anyways, I will try and get my game in before the deadline...depends on when I get out to the burbs to return the 360.

The Steelers sneak out of Atlanta with a 24-20 victory.

Pittsburgh won the coin toss and for a change decided to receive the opening kickoff and proceeded to put a nice drive together but were stopped by Atlanta's defense and had to settle for a Jeff Reed 40 yard field goal. Atlanta took their first posession of the game and put a long drive of their own together and finished it with a Jerious Norwood 4 yard td run.

Pittsburgh would retake the lead on a 1 yard td run from Willie Parker in the 2nd quarter. The Falcons got a 28 yard field goal late in the half from Jason Elam and we would go into halftime tied at 10.

Jason Elam would kick another 28 yard field goal after a long drive was stalled in the third quarter and put Atlanta up 13-10.

The Steelers would go back in front late in the third quarter on a 15 yard td pass from Ben Roethlisberger to rookie tight end Matt Timothy.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Atlanta would take the lead again after another long drive that ended on a 5 yard pass from Matt Ryan to Roddy White.

The Steelers put a long drive of their own together and took the lead for good on a 3 yard td run from LeRon James with 37 seconds left.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

LeRon James was player of the game with 17 rushes for 96 yards and 1 td. Willie Parker rebounded from his previous weeks poor performance with 14 rushes for 88 yards and 1 td. Michael Turner led the way for Atlanta with 24 rushes for 96 yards. Next week Pittsburgh hosts the Bengals while Atlanta travels to San Francisco.

Well, I thought I had the RROD, but it seems like it was only temporary. Fired up the XBox about two hours later, and everything was fine. So....

Dolphins defeat the CPU Packers, 42-7

In a lackluster game against the CPU, the Dolphins defeated the Packers 42-7. This was primarily a game for Henne to get some practice, and he did going 26-35 with 246 yard passing, 4 TDs and only one interception. Ronnie Brown had a balanced game, with 14 rushes for 62 yards, 7 catches for 59 yards, and three touchdowns. Kendall Langford had three sacks, and Antoine Cason had an interception. The Dolphins go up against the Bills next week.

Washington Redskins 49 - Detroit Lions 10

The Redskins continued their winning ways this time in Detroit improving to 5-2 with a 49-10 drubbing of the CPU Lions.

Clinton Portis had 3 TDs and 155 yds rushing on only 18 carries. Despite being out-possessed by 32 minutes to 16, and despite gaining only 10 first downs to the Lions 21, the Redskins were never in danger of losing the game. The score was 21-0 after the first quarter.

Player of the game Albert Haynesworth recorded one sack, forced a fumble, and intercepted two passes, one of which he ran in 38 yds for the TD. Rookie WR Roberson had the best day of his young career, catching four balls for 115 yds including a 58 yd TD from Campbell.

The 5-2 Redskins now travel to Tampa Bay to take on the CPU Buccaneers who sit at the bottom of the NFC South with an 0-6-1 record before heading to New York for their first meeting with their divisional foe the NY Giants.

Dan, I finally uploaded my highlights from my lat game against Brando's Texans, if you want to grab them for the highlight show. I'll upload these Lions replays later in the week.

GameSeven,
When are you available to play? This evening after 7-ish CST would work for me.

Tomorrow or Thursday after 8 would also work. I will be out of town Friday and Saturday, so late Sunday would probably be our last chance.

Raiders played their worst game of the season out in Arizona. Warner and those receivers are tough to stop, as the dynamic duo of Fitzgerald and Boldin combined for 13 catches and 137 yards. Tim Hightower looked like the second coming of Sweetness, carrying 14 times for 93 yards and a score. Hightower repeatedly brushed off tacklers like gnats, with one run so impressive I had to capture the replay. Nothing was blatantly unrealistic, but it was just really good play by everybody in red early on.

Rookie QB Phenom Dane Morrow looked just like a rookie, completing only 12 of 20 passes for 184 yards, 1 late TD, and 2 interceptions.

Darrius Heyward-Bey was held to just 3 catches for 37 yards and no scores.

The usually-stout defense allowed 333 yards of offense from the Cardinals.

The only saving grace was the return of the running game, with Darren McFadden carrying 23 times for 142 yards and a score, and getting the ball back with 9 minutes left and running out the rest of the game. Up until that point the Raiders trailed the time possession 20 minutes to 18.

Were it not for 2 Warner interceptions and 1 forced fumble, it would have easily been a Raiders loss. Instead, it was a 35-14 win--the 20th straight win for Oakland dating back to last season.
