Message from Damon.(Jackdogs brother)

DS this is Damon,Jacks brother. I just wanted to let you guys know that Jack lost his right foot on Saturday night because of infection. He is in stable condition today.
 
 Jack is not coping with this very well. He broke the jaw of the doctor that told him his foot had to be taken. He had to be tied down to be sadated before being taken to surgery. He didn´t want any visitors today. None.
 
 I tried to give him back his laptop today and he told me to keep it and leave him the f### alone. My brother is a fighter,he just needs some time to deal with this setback. He was excited about the idea of walking this week,so this was a major blow to him.
 
 Carol has decided not to tell Dominic yet. She will let Jack do that. Carol is the only person at this point that Jack will even give an ear to. She ask me to pass this on to his internet friends. So here it is,I wish I had better news.
 
 I will post updates when I can and answer any questions that you ask on this thread. Thanks Damon.

I´m sorry to hear that Damon. I´ve known Jack for a while from the SR boards (which I know aren´t high on his list anymore but we´re not all bad), and I know he sacrificed a lot to protect our freedom. If anyone has the grit to get through this I know Jack does. He is one tough SOB with a heart of gold. Give him my best wishes when he is ready to talk again and tell him bdt92 says that the Packers still suck!!!

Oh man, I´m just sick about this for Jack... God bless him for his sacrifice for us, and what a terrible price he´s paying.
 
 Given what I know about him, I know he´ll make it through this challenge, and will remain a shining example and role model for all of us in regard to dealing with adversity.

Well, I have to once again say that even though I do not know Jack, that does not keep me from feeling the highest respect for him as a brave man, a father, a soldier, a husband, a brother, and a gamer. All of which have been shown to me throughout various posts from him and his family.
 
 From what I have read from him and about him, I have no doubt that he will pull through this with the utmost courage and strength. My heart is with him.

What terrible news. I wish the best for Jack and his family during this tough time.
 
 From what I´ve heard of Jack, he sounds like the type of person that will be able to overcome this obstacle and any others that arise during his recovery process.

Major major bummer. I feel terrible for JackDog and his family.
 
 But, breaking the jaw of the doctor who told him about it? Come on! I know I can´t imagine what JackDog felt when he was told about losing his foot, but this was not a cool move. The Doctor was just doing his job.
 
 I´m sure this is an action that JackDog will not be proud of as he goes through dealing with this.

James thank you for your kind words.
 
 As far as the doctor having his jaw broke,well I think the doctor is lucky. This doctor took my brother off antibiotics a week ago,that led to the infection.
 
 On friday,knowing that Jacks foot was going to have to come off. He sat and talked with all of us about the toe implants that Jack was supposed to get this week.He had everyone pumped up about Jack getting out of the hospital soon.
 
 Then on Saturday he told Jack the truth. If he would have been honest to my brother I am sure Jack would not have done a thing,but the fact that he admitted to lying on Friday led to Jack´s actions.
 
 I am proud that my brother didn´t kill him. You didn´t know the whole story. I understand the little scolding you gave my brother. But now you do,and put yourself in Jack´s position. This doctor lied and made mistakes that cost Jack his foot. Thats a crushing blow! He should thank whatever God he prays to the the only thing he got was a fractured jaw.
 
 Jack cannot sue the VA for malpractice,he is still goverment property. He has to deal with this mistake for the rest of his life. At least he is alive and I know that Jack will begin to see that and attack whatever physical therapy they give him. Thanks Damon.

Wow, I haven´t had time to read all of the threads, then I come across this!!! I am so sorry to hear the this news. All I can say is tell Jack to call on his faith in times like this, and he will be fine.
