POLL: Those who have played both on 360...NHL2K7 or NHL 07

Post by XXXIV »

Okay Im tired of waiting for a clear cut winner. I want to get a hockey game this weekend.

Figured this would be the best route. Dont vote if you havent played both.

I vote 'both.'

When you play one, you miss features from the other.

There isn't a clear winner. Just buy one, you'll be happy with either. Both have good and bad things about them.

They're both pretty good, but I liked 2K7 a lot more than EA's game. I didn't find out until after I returned NHL 2007 that you didn't have to use the stick to shoot with, but even if I had, 2K7 still plays a much better game of hockey.

Now get the 2K7 once and for all will ya. No seriosuly, you'll have fun with the 07 version too but if you're a Hockey purist, I would stick to 2K.

If I had to pick, I'd go with 2K7. I love the new camera angle, and above all the gameplay is buttery smooth and just feels like hockey. EA's '07 has something positive going for it, but I think it needs another year of refinement and polish. Next year, I could see EA being on top.

I picked 07 because I've played 2k hockey since the Dreamcast era and I really like the freshness of 07. When I play 07 it really takes me back to the Genesis era of the series as far as having a total blast playing it and having the "just one more game" feel to it. It's a blast online too. You can't go wrong with 2k as it is the best in the series but that wasn't enough for me to hold on to it. I traded it in last night towards Splinter Cell: Double Agent. As others have said, you can't go wrong with either game.

you dont need a poll to decide. just ask yourself what type of hockey gamer are you. Are you a purest, who likes the game to play out like a real hockey game and doesnt mind similiar, yet solid, feeling gameplay? If so get 2K.

Or do you prefer a fun, different game, that might not be as "real" as it could be, but is loads of fun to play? If so, get NHL07.

It comes down to which is more important...the FUN factor or the SIM factor?

I agree that it's a situation where you really won't go wrong either way. NHL 2K7 is a very good game and you certainly won't regret picking it up. That said, NHL 07 is the most fun I've had with any sports game this year. (Note that you have to turn the speed all the way down and bump the camera out to classic in order to really enjoy the game.)

I've still got the 2K7 demo on my hard drive and I fire it up every so often just to appreciate what the game has to offer. But I don't regret having traded in my copy of 2K7 at all. NHL 07 is fun the way the series used to be fun back in 1993 and 1994- you sit down and just bang out four or five games in a row without every noticing the time going by.

Ditto. I like a few things about EA's game but it needs more polish. The frame rate bugs me but the right analog stick control is sweet. I hate trying to play defense in 07 and love it in 2K7. To me, 2K7 plays the closest to real hockey. Maybe EA can overtake 2K next year.

Is this just thru Fry's online or is it the same price in store?
You have to add $6 for shipping if u order online, which still isn't bad.

well mark me down for both games now :D

I think I will play 07 for a few months and then switch over to 2K
for the 2nd half of hockey season. It's too hard to switch back and forth
between these two!
