I guess I´m an idiot, need PGR 2 help

Post by wabash97 »

Blockbuster finally received a game I wanted to rent in a timely fashion.

So, I found the unlock everything save on AR, I´ve got it on the memory card and apparently there is no way to load this profile into the game?

I call up profile manager, tried to copy from the card to the hard drive. Not finding anything.

Any suggestions?
Don´t take this as a slam, but I´d be surprised if any of the PGR 2 regulars in here have used Action Replay to unlock anything. I know I haven´t.

One of the joys of this game is working your way through the levels to get more Kudos and more cars. Now, I know you´re just renting so you want to see everything the game has to offer.

But bottom line: I´m not sure if anyone in here has used AR to unlock PGR 2. You might want to try the PGR 2 board at gamefaqs.com, as I know there have been dudes posting over there who have used AR.

Sorry.

P.S.: Did you get snow in Oneonta Thursday night? We got a couple of inches here in the ´Cuse.

Damn purists

I´ll check. I would work my way through, but I was out of town for two days of the rental and haven´t had much time to play. To be honest, I´d probably work my way through eventually, but wanted something faster than the first few cars to give it the "do I want to trade in for this" spin.

We got a little snow, finally. No real accumulation, but at least a good stiff breeze and frozen windows. I was getting sick of spring in November.
I´ll be in your neck of the woods Friday for post-Thanksgiving gatherings with the wife´s family in Liverpool.

P.S. Wow. I was at FAQs and I guess I didn´t realize the brewing "issue" concerning online use of AR saves. People are getting agitated from what I gather. I guess it would piss me off too. Well ... I don´t have Live so I won´t be cutting any corners (lousy pun) on people who´ve put in the time. I´m not even sure I´ll get this game simply because it would be all offline for me and I can see the drone AI getting on my nerves.
Thinking about Pro Race Driver as a possible alternative. More concerned with the racing model and the competitiveness of the AI in the context of each series than I am the driving model. Have you played it?

[ This message was edited by: wabash97 on 25-11-2003 20:30 ]
The racing model and AI in Pro Race Driver is superb. Best of any console game I´ve played since World of Outlaws.

PGR 2 is a better game than PRD, but if racing and AI is vitally important to you and you don´t have Xbox Live, then PRD is a strong budget purchase.

I ordered PGR2 through Comp USA´s Thanksgiving day special sale. I got it coming Fedex Saver for a total of $45. Should get it Tuesday the way things look. Where should I start with this? I´m anxious to try racing with a some of you online this coming week, although my time will be very limited. Where should I spend some time warming up, or getting equipped to run in the popular races?

I´ll also be checking out the Griffin Racing Wheel that I got as part of the Xbox Live bundle I got at Best Buy. Not sure what to expect with this, but it´s a fairly good size wheel, based on the box... I haven´t even taken it out yet.

Where should you start? Just play the career. You might want to just play and try to earn 22 kudos tokens so you can buy one of the top "ultimate" cars.

We´ll see you online, and have some fun at the nurburgring.

Thanks James... that´s exactly the kind of information I was seeking. How hard is it to acquire 22 kudos?

BTW, is the career mode fun? Sometimes I find these career modes to be drudgery that has to be withstood to get to where I really want to be.

Career mode is fun. The AI can be annoying, but just work through it at Silver level or below, maybe even "Steel" for the cone challenges. Maybe sometimes try for the gold on the Speed Trap challenges. Some of the challenges are hard to beat at higher levels without buying a better car.

To get Kudos tokens, you just accumulate Kudos by winning/doing it with style in the career events.

Depending on how you want to play, maybe you don´t want to save up your tokens to buy the Ultimate car right away. Some of the lower level cars are fun too. Most of the time, online at the ring, we´re happy in the Saleen S7 (an ultimate car that is available by default) so you don´t need to save up if you don´t want to.
