Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
There's been a simracing exposure explosion in the past week. It's all over the news in simracing circles. Pretty unprecedented level of exposure across all disciplines.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
No force feedback in the game at all on PC, which is surprising--considering they have an option for "steering wheel". I set my wheel to 210 degrees of rotation so it's a quick snap back and forth, but there's just nothing there for center spring or anything. Seems controller-or-bust for this one.

Re: Oculus Rift
Mirror wasn't giving me an accurate counter--it was just showing me what my Rift was displaying for me, so I could watch it outside of the headset once recorded. And it was definitely NOT 80FPS. It was stuttering and dipping (didn't need a FPS counter to see it), and that happened to coincide with w...

Re: Oculus Rift
Only time I ran into anything even remotely close to that, Don, it's because the framerate wasn't where it was supposed to be. One of the updates screwed up performance, so while it SAID my S was running at 79/80FPS, I used Oculus Mirror and captured it...it wasn't. It was dipping all over the place...

Re: NASCAR Heat 4
AI was fantastic. Incredible AI, awesome to race. New experience racing AI, and I haven't seen any other NASCAR game that felt as realistic. The AI took multiple lines, honored your position on track, and could actually be raced naturally. I could let some by and save tires early on, and "save my st...

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)
Kept refreshing Twitter last night until I saw the status, but forgot to post it here (I'm sure anybody paying attention has seen already, anyway). But Newman is in serious condition...injuries are not life-threatening, though. Amazing to hear that after what I saw last night.

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)
The end of Daytona was one of the worst wrecks I've ever seen. No idea how anybody could survive that (no details on Ryan Newman's condition as of the time of me posting this), but the car isn't designed to be hit that way (upside down, 2 feet off the ground, directly into the driver's side window a...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
As long as you don't mind the cars handling like boats. My initial impressions that I posted at OS after the game unlocked on the 13th: 1) Played on an XBox One X with a controller (no way I'm moving my sim rig or my XBox to play this lol). 2) Out of the box, I jumped into a TQ race and the cars fel...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Indeed! Congrats! Most of the time lately I'm running in league races (there's a really fun "Tuesday Night Mustangs" league that I run in, as well as The SimPit's Sunday F3 series), but any win feels fantastic. I went years without winning a race, then they started coming frequently in the past few ...

Re: Dirt Rally 2.0 coming 26 February 2019
I haven't done too much, but I'm down for whatever. About the only thing I've driven that I WASN'T a fan of is the R-GTs or whatever insanity that is. Mixing it up would be fun, though. Unless we're going hyper-competitive and want to get better in a single car class as we go. Then one of those midd...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
We got a gaming-capable laptop recently so I took the plunge on iRacing. The AI races are really, really fun--pushing my abilities against AI in a Skippy at Mid-Ohio, Barber, and Lime Rock has been a blast. It's been 9 years since I last subscribed, so quite a few updates since then and the amount ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Lots of questions I have, but I hope it sells well and we get some updates to it like other racing sims. It's a digital-only product, which should allow for frequent, easy patches and updates. Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of an annual release type of update. Where they might release a ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
I'm super excited for a new dirt game (obviously, my avatar hasn't changed in years lol), but basing an entire game around Monster's dirt mode from Nascar Heat scares me a little bit. It had no balance in there. You were either pushing like a dump truck or sliding way too much. No fine control mid-c...

I didn't announce the iRacing Skip Barber AI release last time, and it seems at least Don was interested in it later, so I'm putting this here in case anybody cares
AI NASCAR coming tomorrow with Daytona and Talladega.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I've played every racing game on the planet, and nothing instills a sense of fear and speed like TT:IoM.
A good motorcycle "controller" on PC + VR support would probably require me to change my underwear after sessions.

Terry, do you use one of the handbrake peripherals and does it do more than just add impressiveness? Show and tell time! Yeah, my setup is still awfully similar to this, although you can't see the handbrake/shifter side. https://i.groupme.com/2016x1512.jpeg.90633664d8304345a702576628258a94.la...

Re: Dirt Rally 2.0 coming 26 February 2019
Crazy that Scott and Don raced for roughly an hour and 10 minutes, and ended up separated by less than 5 seconds.
I forgot how much fun these things were. I loved it in Dirt Rally, but hadn't run much of Dirt Rally 2.0 at all with no DSP league

Re: Dirt Rally 2.0 coming 26 February 2019
What's funny is I was running in another league, saw the DSP one had activity, so just jumped in. Saw this thread this morning. I blew a tire in the first stage, and rather than repairing it, just drove 3/4 of it with a flat :? After that, the next 2 stages I was SURE it was still flat since there w...

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)
I know this is real racing and not simracing, but I just gotta say...this will probably be the first year I've watched much of the Rolex 24, and it's simply because of simracing. I ran in the iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend with a team, and that was the coolest simracing experience I think ...

Re: XBOX Game Pass (Ultimate)
I wouldn't call it atrocious, but just designed in a very, very particular way. I just got used to dodging around like a madman until I got the exact position I wanted, and then using the attacks...because otherwise, he'd launch into a spin and get hit instead. After a LOT of playtime, it became nat...
