Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I don't know why I let myself get excited for this. Mostly due to single player career possibilities.

I kept it, but it was tough to find a SINGLE good thing online with any stream on launch day. Twitch had mostly moved on within 2 hours, which is a world record as far as I know. Streams I did see ...

Re: Next Generation of Xbox Rumors

I dunno...I obviously can't speak for anybody else, but the possibility of sitting on my couch playing World of Warcraft with a controller (or any other PC game), while still accessing my entire library of Xbox games without having to do any sort of streaming or remote play stuff is pretty enticing ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

No, no, and no. I don't care about any of that stuff with a racing game, really. Outside of the triggers maybe giving you some feedback on brake/throttle pressure, I don't find anything useful from it.

My controller feedback was more about what was posted previously...you can pick the line you want ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I have spent some HOURS in this game. Never had any intention of playing it this much, as again...I 'retired' from sim racing entirely at the end of 2023 and hadn't missed it whatsoever. Sold most of my high-end gear (although if anybody wants a set of $4,000 pedals, let me know!). Haven't once felt ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

FWIW, I haven't had a single frame drop that I've noticed. I did turn off Vsync and didn't see any screen tearing or anything, but I couldn't point out a big difference.

I'm playing on a PS5 Pro, so there may be platform differences there with the framerate.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Yeah my TV is always VRR-enabled, and the PS5 has the option turned on. So if it's the same thing as others, it's just the console talking to the TV and the game doesn't even try to do anything.

I'll check it out later. And keep in mind, it was ONE race...on Normal, so not exactly a difficult race ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I had never even heard of this game until yesterday when some Youtube thumbnail said "NASCAR 25 launch trailer". I laughed but clicked it anyway.

Then saw it was iRacing and rushed to buy it.

I only raced once on it, but damn the controls were the best I've felt on a console (I don't have a wheel ...

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?

I've done a lot of PC gaming on TV's being used as monitors. I've also used consoles on PC monitors.

PC on TVs almost always looks worse than a dedicated monitor. Most of the reason is the TV is (in general) a lot bigger than your actual monitor, so even 4K output a 60" is going to look at lot ...

Re: Madden 26

I'm just so amazed at how every game can feel very, very different.

Some games I'm able to run at will. Others I can't get a single block. Sometimes my WRs are getting separation every snap. Others they're blanketed and drop everything.

I never know what to expect, and that's before I throw in ...

Re: Madden 26

So having not played a football game consistently in the last 5-7 years - is it just me or is Madden just way better - smoother, easier to read blocks, better controls, better graphics, etc. than CF26? Been playing both trials and while I like the atmosphere and everything better in CF, Madden ...

Re: Madden 26

As touched upon, I really like the coach recommendations in Coach Suggestions. I feel more confident calling defensive plays than just picking something. It's such a nice feature for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time understanding defense assignments. I'm still not comfortable moving my ...

Re: Madden 26

I'm stunned at how much I enjoyed my time with it last night. CFB 26 really had me at my wit's end with the missed blocking assignments and coverage snafus (I know they patched it the day before Madden came out and I finished my RTG QB's senior season that day. It's better, but the AI RBs are still ...

Re: CFB 26

if you're only using Swat/INT, that might be part of the issue.

I play the WR almost any time unless I've clearly got position, my CB isn't running full speed chasing, and his head is turned toward the ball.

My quick mental rule is basically:

1) Am I in a simple zone, in position already, and ...

Re: CFB 26

What teams are you playing with?

As Michigan my OL is really good, they do get beat from time to time but I rarely see someone not picked up unless it is a blitz, I feel like I have the right amount of time in the pocket. Now a lot of Michigan's pass plays, at least the one I call already have ...

Re: CFB 26

Yeah they advertised those quite a bit pre-release.

What I can't get used to is the default 'empty' blocking scheme on offense. Any play that doesn't have a called half-slide or something defaults to "empty" protection, which is absurd. I have to switch it to base every single play to have any ...

Re: CFB 26

The "lightning circles" means their abilities are leveling up to the next tier. Basically, they're getting better when they're green flashes.

I agree it's been a lot harder to run the ball, but I had to go into replay a few times to figure out why. There seems to be A LOT more instances of one of ...

Re: CFB 26

Is that bad? I mean, that's how DBs and LBs are coached. I've completed some that still don't turn their head, and swat aimlessly at air.

But I got beat on a couple of them that got their head around on a longer throw. It seems corners and deep outs are more common for them to get around, while ...

Re: CFB 26

I think it's a balance, honestly. I threw a couple INTs last night on balls that weren't a problem pre-patch.

But they were all the sort of "maybe, maybe not" throws where the CB has his head turned away from you and you try to thread one past his earhole.

A couple times, he turned his head with ...

Re: CFB 26

I just wish I could figure out the pass protections a little better. I've really started to have excellent results with setting the Mike on running plays, and I get the basics of your protection working out from the ID'd Mike in pass pro...but my God, it feels like a lot of times I'm getting ...

Re: CFB 26

I've been just manually subbing the HB in and out.

It's so much simpler now with the Dpad-up subs on the fly. I just give my HB1 a few carries, then move to HB2 for awhile. I've ever used HB3 in some extreme cases. It's weird that I can't seem to do it from the playcall screen (the Dpad only works ...

Re: CFB 26

There is a key to guess pass/run, but it's a little different than it was before. I think it was like RB/R1 and then the sticks.

It also has route commit, so you can have your secondary jump out routes.

It really does give you every tool in the toolbox...just have to figure out when to deploy ...

Re: TV Game Mode Yes or No for sports games?

I have an OLED LG CX from a few years back that I did the same thing ("recommended settings") and it was fine. But there were times it was going between cutscenes and gameplay and doing that "instant game response activated"...covering up things in the UI I may need or have to read. It got annoying ...

Re: TV Game Mode Yes or No for sports games?

I think my reflexes are so shot at this point that I notice zero difference from any perceived lag.

I turned it off on all of my displays and inputs and never noticed any difference. Maybe if you're trying to play some 240Hz-supported game, but I don't see crap so it's always off.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

WoO 24 is f*cking incredible. I'm not playing any other racing games these days. Not even my beloved Forza, Assetto Corsa Competizione or Isle of Man TT 3. That's saying something.

Same. I just completely "retired" from sim racing last year, and haven't missed it. Was just investing so much time ...
