Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
To me, Kylotonn for WRC games is a lot like Milestone for MotoGP games -- no matter how hard they try to improve the physics and how many "features" they add to the game, it just doesn't stack up to prior developers' work. In rally gaming, Codemasters still is king. In MotoGP games, Climax created t...

Re: NHL 23
The two biggest improvements for me are that the poke check actually works without incurring a tripping penalty and that the CPU team moves for loose pucks at a slower pace that's equal to the CPU-controlled players of the human team. Still not enough penalties. Still not enough CPU D men launching ...

Re: NHL 23
At Simulation settings, happy to report NHL 23 plays the most realistic game of offline hockey of any EA title in the last decade.
Playing a World Juniors tournament as Team USA. Really enjoying it, with close, realistic games.

Re: NHL 23
I'm not sure what's going on at EA. Is it lack of programmers? Try lack of competition. EA can mail it in any year it wants, and there is no rival game to pick up lost customers. And EA knows most sports gamers are lemmings and will buy the new title for their favorite franchise(s) every year, even...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
For anyone playing this game, Terry's advice about flicking the car into the corner and then modulating the throttle -- not vice-versa -- is MONEY. Yeah, I stumbled upon the same discovery racing with Teal about a week ago, but the same technique is slicing my lap times now at every track. It really...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
I could hear the Outlaws in my back yard when they ran at Rolling Wheels Raceway, which is less than 10 miles from my house. But I never went because they always ran the Tuesday or Wednesday after Memorial Day, right after I had just spent three straight weeks of consecutive 12- to 15-hour days work...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Another plus of WoO: The fictional tracks, nearly all carried over from Tony Stewart's Sprint Car Racing, are almost all excellent. I've seen a few complaints that not every track in the real World of Outlaws circuit is included in the game. Are you sh*tting me? WoO races on nearly 50 tracks around ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
- I feel like I get the basics of the handling model straight away. I also feel like I'd be going much faster if I understood the depths of it. That's perfect for console racing - you can get round the track reasonably well straight away, but you'll be a long way from maximising your speed, so ther...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
I feel the same way, I used to be more of a sim guy in racers but now it’s about fun. I’m deciding between World of Outlaws and Dakar Desert Rally. I think both will drop in price in the next couple months so I may wait for that and get them both. I loved the original World of Outlaws game myself! ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Damage model is weak. One of the few low points of the game, along with lack of tear-off strips.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
This game is GREAT, for all the reasons Terry and Teal described so well.
Total Ratbag vibes. Feels like 2002 on the PS2 all over again, but with far better graphics.
I'm in filthy, dirt-slinging lust.

Good to know, Terry. Your review is piling on the cacophony of glowing praise for this game.
My resistance weakens. I wish it was $40 instead of $50, but I'll look for some change in the couch cushions ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Has anyone given the new WOO game a shot? Curious to know if the iRacing involvement helped take the usual Monster competent game to a different level Nope. I'm skeptical because iRacing is the publisher and Monster is the developer. Monster has a checkered past with racing games, as its NASCAR Hea...

Re: NFL 2022/2023 Talk
The amount of chirping I hear from the three Bills fans I have in my circles far outnumbers all other fans in amount and annoyance. Just seems misplaced. Can I have another gold star now daddy? That's because this is more than just a football team for the Bills Mafia. The Bills are an important par...

Re: NFL 2022/2023 Talk
Just figured I start this off with a Josh Allen is the man. I cashed on 3 separate same game parlays on that ass kick of LA. Just as impressive was the Bills' front seven and offensive line. The defense was in the Rams' backfield half the night, and the O-line protected Allen and opened nice holes ...

SR was my first real forum, as a young and arrogant 19/20 year old. So many good memories and so many buddies we have lost. I especially enjoyed chatting to HipE, Airdog and BBBozo. And who can forget siam007 and his World Cup soccer commentary in the chat. Hard to believe it’s been that long and n...

Re: World of Outlaws via iracing for consoles later this year
My biggest concern with the WoO game is that it will handle like shite with a controller. Many developers of console racing games ported straight from PC or using PC-based engines don't ever consider that the VAST majority of console racing gamers don't use wheels. Project Cars and the original Asse...

Re: Madden 23
Thanks, Dan. Oh, well. I never buy Madden without a trial or demo (and usually wait until it's free on EA Play, anyways), so no purchase for me any time soon! No worries. The Show is a more realistic team sports game than Madden, at least before Madden 23 was released, so I'm very content to keep pl...

Re: Madden 23
Is the 10-hour trial of Madden 23 limited to only a certain date range? I downloaded the full trial last night, refused to give my email or personal information to EA or its partners (as usual) and then was told my trial period had expired. EA can go f*ck itself if it's denying the trial to people w...

Re: Who's left from Sportsreviewers on here 22 years later?
Paul, be careful with headphones and associated gear. It can be a deep pit of wanting more. Currently wanting to upgrade my old Stax cans, especially with the weak yen. Too late. I already have around $2,000 invested in three pairs of over-ear headphones and a desktop DAC/amp setup, and all were us...
