Re: Gripes, Complaints and Angst
jcalvert, The only thing I would say is be careful with the contracts. I have one really ugly one that is hanging over my head with James Meyer for the next few years. He is at least productive which makes it sting a little less but that can kill you. I think the thing that many people miss in this ...

a bust out year for super rookie Dale Holley. He will be slotted in the 4/5 spot in the rotation and could provide the push for a playoff spot in the re-aligned AL East. While we are glad to continue to compete with Charleston and now Brooklyn it is hard to predict a division win with the Cicada's b...

Open letter to Charleston from the rest of the NL East
Please come back and play. You are so far ahead we can't see you! Your 39 - 10 record over the last 49 games is not appreciated. In fact, some would say that it is unsporting. Particularly those of use who are way over budget and counting on playoff revenue to come closer to our payroll nut.

Gripes? Oh, I've got gripes! Paul Tyler goes down for 5 months and to think that just last week I almost made him a 2 year extension offer of $30 million total. Talk about a dodged bullet. Tough break for Tyler after just getting the pitcher of the month award for April in the NL. At the age of 38 y...

First player to 100 HR's St Charles 1B Jarred Bates is only 5 homers away from the century mark and is being chased by Chris Reynolds and Javier Ybarra for the honor of the first to triple digits. 500 Hits Juan Ramirez of Miami has 473 hits and at age 23 looks like he will be the first to every hit ...

Hmm, at what level does the luxury tax kick in? I guess I missed this one. So, If I'm reading this right and assuming it was say $100 million and my payroll was $120 million then I would pay an additional $10 million in luxury tax? (To the charity of my choice I assume) When does that payment happen...

The "Major" is going to have a bounceback year with the Gold Sox this year. With the defensive addition of Chapman and the trade for Lang the club is much better defensively and offensively. His signing allowed me to trade stud SP Salomon Jimenez and get cheap middle infield help. Playoff tickets ar...

Owner won't approve budget?
I'm trying to make free agent offers but my owner won't approve it because my payroll will exceed my budget in 2012. I have enough spare cash to run at a deficit for a few years. I thought we removed the issue around owners and budgets?

Congratulations to Jared and the Charleston crew. We will be back in 2011 and ready to compete again with the Cicada's. The bullpen implosion in game 3 which was ours to win and the Feliciano Homer in the top of the 10th after the Gold Sox had fought hard to tie it in the bottom of the 9th were bitt...
