Re: iRacing DSP Poker Night Thread

It was good to have others around. It gave Grant a chance to scrap at Lime Rock and Adam had the chance to scrap at Michigan (though I'm sure Terry would have mixed it up with him if it was only the six of us there). I just realized I made the same mistake that I made the first time I was in a draft...

Re: OT: Racing 2011 (Spoiler Alert)

If I'd approached you on the weekend of a Cup race at Talladega last year and said, "Of course, the really compelling action this weekend will be in the Formula 1 race," you'd have had me arrested. Well, if you told me that and we were in Talladega I'd not only have you arrested, I'd throw away the...

Re: iRacing DSP Poker Night Thread

I just finished watching the replay. The front pack was mixing it up really well.

I thought I was clear of Grant on lap 10, but looking at the replay from his cockpit view I feel like an a$$. Very sorry Grant. I'm sure you were cursing me. Thanks for not chewing me out.

Re: iRacing DSP Poker Night Thread

I selected all updates 8O . I should have just selected what I needed.

It's going to be another 35 minutes to download.

I checked my stats. It turns out my last non-DSP race was March 2, 2010. Can I drive the pace car today?

I'll see how long one year of missing updates takes to install :)

I'll also have to buy some cars and tracks I suspect.

Re: iRacing DSP Poker Night Thread

Adam, Dave, Grant, Marc, Patrick, Ferhad, Arni? Most of you appear to still have active iRacing accounts, although I don't believe I have Dave tagged as a friend. Also, just stumbled across this blog post talking about all the current Indycar drivers that are also iRacing. Pretty cool. http://blog....

Re: OT: Racing 2011 (Spoiler Alert)

It might be if the drag reduction system really is causing the problems Ross Brawn describes in this link here . Assuming that's all true - and you'd imagine it is - then Michael spent much of qualifying with absolutely no idea of how his car was going to behave when he next tried to turn a corner....

Re: OT: Racing 2011 (Spoiler Alert)

I loved the qualifying at Sepang today. It's oh so close up top. Very impressive drives from Vettel, Hamilton, and Alonso. Since last season I've not once criticized Mr. Schumacher over his lack of pace. Well it's time for me to get off the fence. I thought he looked awful from his in-car camera. Of...

Re: OT: Racing 2011 (Spoiler Alert)

I was never happy with Tony George over the IndyCar/CART split, but considering he helped get F1 back to the US for while and played a role in the development of the SAFER barrier I've gotta hand it to him - It was amazing how Martin Truex walked away from that crash at Martinsville today. Don't le...

Ben Edwards is bloody marvellous. Folk have pushed for him to get the BBC F1 gig for years. He's done F1 for Eurosport, Bernie's F1 Digital + and the short-lived F1 In Cinema initiative already. Try him for size, working with Jeremy Shaw for the CART race at Michigan in 2000: http://www.youtube.com...

Yeah, that's a good point.

Thanks.

I know how you Brits are proud and provincial about your F1 presenters, mate, but neither MB-DC or Crofty-Chandhok are as good as the longtime SPEED F1 team of Bob Varsha, David Hobbs and Steve Matchett. They are sublime, easily setting the gold standard for race commentary in the U.S. And if MB-DC...

I must be lucky because I've never heard of this Nancy Grace person. That was pathetic. In all areas of science there is a huge gap between the specialists and the public. Unfortunately, the word "radiation" creates a fearful reaction in people that is hard to soothe. For her sake I hope she never h...

Re: OT: Racing 2011 (Spoiler Alert)

Watkins Glen and the Indy track are two quite different creatures. I imagine Indy is a considerably safer place for a driver to get his first taste of a modern Forumula One car? I doubt Stewart would want to go as fast as Gordon did when he tried out the Williams. I don't know what kind of audience ...

This honestly serves Bernie right for putting the opening race in a country like Bahrain. I sure wish F1 would make the schedule more Eurocentric than it is currently. I saw Ed...

As with all these long races, I watched it in parts. I saw the last 50 laps in full. I enjoyed watching the pairs dance. It must be frightening to have to be the front car of the pair when your car is loose? What I don't like is that the driver doing the pushing can't really see what he's pushing th...

I don't see the old Hockenheimring represented anywhere in the lists. Let me add the first chicane (Clark?) and the double right-hander at the end of the lap. I also don't see Monza's Ascari chicane mentioned unless it's going by an alternate name. These turns kill me in video games but I like them.

Great find Fletcher! I haven't posted much this year but I'll have to take issue with PK on one thing: I think Villeneuve's criticisms of the Indy 500 were pretty much spot on. It's got its credibility back now, but from 1997 to a couple of years back it was a pale shadow of its former self. Heck, i...

I turned 40 recently.

I figure I need the scan and the finger inspection. I just wish they would forward the results to my doctor.
