No surprise that a reference to an Xbox Series S has been spotted.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/evide ... 0-6480722/
Supposedly it is a weaker version of the X. I wish MS was releasing an all digital version of the X like Sony’s all digital PS5. I never use the disc drive so saving $50-$100 on the console would be great.

Keep in mind that both are suppose to have SSDs so more expensive storage. That means they probably won't come with a lot of internal capacity.

Maybe if they let you store installed games on an external USB drive, which are cheap. But then you lose the speed unless you have to move a game from the USB drive and copy to the internal SSD, which could add times.

Will it really matter though if the X is $100 cheaper then the Sony offering? From what I am hearing MS is going to significantly undercut Sony's pricing, guess we will see if that is true eventually.

I haven’t heard that. Got a link? It would be great if true.

Yes several articles, I still have a few connections in this industry and this is just what I hear from one of them. I'd say 60% of the time his stuff is correct, but from what I hear right now it's a game of cat and mouse. For me this might be the first time I don't buy both consoles at launch or maybe at all.

Halo Infinite delayed to 2021. No launch title it seems.

I had already made up my mind that I wasn’t going to get either console on day one since forever, despite this article. Despite the stronger engine, where are the games?

I'm also not itching to buy anything at launch (unlike the last two generations).

Lately I've just been watching and learning more about the racing world (F1 and Rally to be specific). I've always played these games out of the pure joy of flying down the track and the experience it offers, but am just now starting to really like real world racing and all of the drama/strategy of F1. I think it was that Netflix F1 series that hooked me :)

Anyways, I think I would rather spend my money on a nice racing sim setup for my PS4 Pro (which will continue to work with PS5 whenever I decide to make the jump).

The Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition looks great, combined with that Playseat Challenger chair (the soft one that folds up). It will cost me around $800CDN, but I've got the console already (don't have the space to support a PC configuration), the games (F1, Dirt Rally, GTSport, etc...).

I figure this will blow me away more than the Spidermans, etc...

And the thing is according to that article I posted it's a reworked version of the Spiderman on the PS4 so it's not an entirely new game. The XSX really doesn't have a launch game because Halo has been pushed back to 2021. The only selling point the XSX has is GPU. I'll revisit these two consoles in a couple of years.

Good point. The trailer for Spiderman didn't really feel next-gen to me....It also hasn't been that long since the last one, so it doesn't feel as enticing.

I wonder if MS will include a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription to GamePass with their new consoles. That would make it really appealing for those new to the platform (no need to buy expensive games at launch) and would really highlight how they are approaching things differently than Sony.

I'm the opposite of all you f*ckers: I'm almost definitely buying the Series X at launch, for a few reasons.

One, I've never bought a console at launch. Ever. So, it's about time to treat myself at age 55, especially considering I started gaming with my cousin's Atari 2600 back in about 1981.

Two, I'm still rocking an OG Xbox One. Not an S. Not an X. The godfather, complete with its failing disc drive. I'm due as hell for a new machine.

Three, I want native 4K gaming. Not upscaling, like the S. I bought my first 4K TV last year, and it has HDR, Dolby Vision and the entire kit and kaboodle. I want to see those great visuals while gaming.

Four, The Boss is a mortgage banker. The housing market is inexplicably molten despite the pandemic. My wife -- who always has ably managed all of our home finances and is just as cheap as me -- is having a fantastic year and told me in June I could spend $500 on whatever I wanted. I told her I was deferring that windfall until the holidays to buy a new console, and she just shook her head and smiled.

Five, my youngest son is an avid gamer. He's getting geeked for the new machines. He's 15, with only three more years at home, and we'll have a ball playing on the Series X.

So, I'm already counting the days!

Good for you pk, seems like we've come full circle here at DSP. :P

I'll get one after Christmas I'm pretty sure of it. We still play the x360 so the xb1x will either move to my daughter's room or I'll just sell it on FB marketplace.

Opposite of who?! :). That beast will be rocking at my place on day 1. We will be hunting in 4k glory while Rob and Jas will be slumming on their “last gen” artifacts :D

10s, I call bullshit on your claim :). You will have it day 1.

Naw, really it’ll be the first time since...Ever. Unless, GS has a deal where they give me fair money for my current Xbox One X, I won’t buy one at launch. Not this ageing dog. 8)

And unlike PK’s wife, mine still gives me stern looks when I hook up with you guys over the weekends.

I'm about 50% getting the Series X at or around launch. That's down from probably 100% a month or two ago. Definitely hoping for a good trade in deal for the X1X. I really haven't seen any new games to get excited about, but I have a huge backlog anyway. I know I will get it eventually anyway, so if there is a good deal I will probably pull the trigger. If backwards compatibility wasn't what it is, it would definitely be a pass for a year at least.

This would be the only thing that does it for me, I currently have 3 XB1X in the house so trading in one or two of them for a new machine is plausible.

Immediately buying a Series X at launch...no doubt about it. I can say I’m not gonna, but I’ll be weak when it comes to release so might as well pre-order and be done with it. LOL. Now the PS5 is another story...definitely won’t be getting it at launch. My son is the only one who plays the PS4 as it stands, and if MLB The Show is really cross platform next year, I have no reason to buy a PS5.

If I can score a Series X at launch I will. Especially if it will instantly load up CyberPunk 2077. I'm happy they delayed Halo Infinite, the game looked rough and it needs more development time. The Master Chief Collection is more than enough to scratch that Halo itch for now. It's awesome to hear pk psyched for the new machine. He definitely deserves it, especially if he is still nursing along the original Xbox One.

Thanks, dude. I'm 55. Still have 1.5 of three college tuitions to pay, but I've also reached the point in my life where it's OK to pry open the money clip for a few seconds every once in a while. I've been the tightest mofo on Earth for seemingly decades, so it's still a weird phenomenon for me to spend money. :)

Yep, my OG Xbox One still is kicking. The disc drive is almost shot, as I need to insert and reinsert Forza 7 -- the only game left that I play on disc -- two or three times for it to load. Otherwise, it still works, with its swollen and aching joints!

The Series X will be my third ever launch buy and first since the Dreamcast. The PS1 was the other. The lil boy in me is really looking forward to it.
