AO Tennis 2

Post by vader29 »

AO Tennis 2 will release on January 9th, 2020 on consoles and PC.

Control in the original AO Tennis felt better than Tennis World Tour but career mode was a bit lacking, hoping it will be improved in the next game.

Thanks for posting the link. Looks great on the video. I haven't played any of the tennis games on this generation because the animations didn't look great on video and the reviews suggested, to me at least, that things had gone backwards since Topspin 4. For now, this looks tempting.

For me the most "fun factor" tennis games are Virtua Tennis. Still waiting for VT5 but for realism I still think Top Spin 3 was the ultimate. It took awhile to get used to the controller mechanics but once you did it represented really well how you position and hit a tennis ball.

The community at AO Tennis was awesome to download. No Federer in this title, no problem.

It was just the unrealistic robotic movement of the players that irked me. The AI would be just too tough at times to break, the foundation is there but it needs more fluidity to the game, some movements were just too stiff to execute.

Contrary, WTT had slightly better tennis AI but the graphics were aweful, still it didn’t feel like tennis.

EA had something going but didn’t pursue it. There’s a title only available on PC, you want realistic tennis, that’s it. Just can’t remember the name now.

Will see what AO brings the second time around.

Try to think of it...I’m curious.

Steam has Tennis Elbow 2013 for 1/2 off so I took the plunge tonight and installed a beefy mod to update a ton of stuff.

It is taking a bit to get used to the mouse controls but it is a blast so far.

So far I am enjoying the second birth of this game, it feels more generic, the animations are more realistic and the great community is still there. Playing on Pro level so far which is not easy at all, especially when you’re starting your career with your own character where the AI is just too perfect with the shots selection.

Playing with a Pro you have a better chance to compete but I am going to stick with my character and see how far I can go. If anything I may bring it down to semi pro level.

Faces are more accurate and overall the game feels good so far. Not perfect by any means, the AI at times pulls winners out of nowhere but overall the game doesn’t have that clunky feel of the original AO tennis.
