Ghost Recon Wildlands

Post by pk500 »

Quite a few people here already have expressed interest in GR Wildlands, so I figured it's time to start a thread.

Beta signups started today for XB1, PS4 and PC: https://ghost-recon.ubisoft.com/wildlan ... index.aspx

After Ghost Recon Future Soldier I was not expecting any return to the classic Ghost Recon games. This video looks more like Ghost Recon meets Just Cause 3. I am still hopeful for a good game with a solid co-op campaign.

Beta is Feb. 3rd, expect invites to go out next Monday or Tuesday. I'm hearing it is a 3 day beta only.

Just watched some of the Polygon stream with an hour or so of gameplay.

Looks great. OTOH, it looks a bit like Ghost Recon: Far Cry

Yeah, that's my only fear, too. I don't think this will be a mix of pure military tactics, strategy and action like the previous GR games. But if it's fun -- and it sure as hell looks that way -- with good multiplayer, I'll shoot bad guys from the neck of a giraffe, for all I care. :)

I don't mind Far Cry style at all, it may just take time and good stealth to do your missions but it sounds also that there's a bit of the original 'Just Cause' arcade style open world to it. So yeah, old fans of the older Ghost recon military style maybe slightly disappointed.

I preordered the game.

The gameplay videos I've watched have one thing in common with the older GR games: one bullet, one kill in many cases.

It seems head shots drop guys, but a few to body armor can do the trick, too. If it's like that, I'm All-In, because while I thoroughly enjoy The Division...the customization options here, open world setting, vehicles, and being able to take guys down with a single bullet will be a welcome change.

True. That's why I enjoy Rainbow Six: Siege -- the most underrated shooter of 2016, by a mile -- so much. Great teamwork, no respawns in multiplayer and the tension of one- or two-shot kills always looms.

I haven't gamed in ages but would be VERY willing to do a Poker Night if we could get R6:S into the rotation!

I think it is open world like Far Cry but I don't think it is LIKE Far Cry if that makes sense. The team is inserted into a region to take down a cartel, how you go about that is up to you. Where you strike etc.

Maybe I'm wrong but it feels more like an ARMA game to me then anything else.

I have an extra beta code. I can only send it to someone with an Ubisoft online account who is on my friends list. My Ubisoft ID is plamp5.

Please excuse me for being naive when it comes to this game as I've done little to no research. Quick yes or no question.. Is this a game you can play solo?
