Question for broadband PS2 online players?

Post by pk500 »

Have any broadband users in here played Madden online with their PS2 against a player using a dial-up connection?

I just wonder how Sony handles this. Does it or EA use the "least common denominator" theory, slowing the connection to that of the dial-up user? In other words, if a broadband player goes against a dial-up player, will the game have the lag that sometimes was evident in Dreamcast 56K online gaming?

Just curious.

Thanks,
PK
An EGM reviewer in his Madden 2003 said that playing broadband versus dialup in Madden "performed like a champ." Hard to say from just his review but the results have been good so far supposedly.

PK...

I have played against a person who said they were dialup. I knew right away something was different about the connection. I did notice I was playing against a person with a slower connection, however I have noticed the same thing also with some of the East Coast users who are on lower capped lines. It is nothing that takes away from the game itself. In the 3-4 games I have played where a user has had a slow connection I have had maybe 4 plays total that were affected by it. One was major cause it was in the middle of a pass play and I wasnt able to take control of my receiver at the right time to make the catch.

All in all tho I think broadband vs dialup will be a very good matchup. I would think this also may be those that have a good-excellent type dialup.

Hope this adds a little more to the discussion.
