NFL2K3/MADDEN : 1 week Later

Post by Templehorn »

Wanted to ask you guys what you guys are playing now. After a little over a week now, I first started playing 2k3 but now playing more madden for a change of pace. I really like both games and they compliment each other.

Here are the things I think both games do the best(keeping it short), what do you guys think?

NFL2K3 : The ON THE FIELD realism, challange, competition, team and player unqiueness is the best bar none. I love the On the field game since it feels like your actually playing a nfl game. The intensity the game offers on the field makes me want to get some tylenol sometimes, I mean that´s how real this game is, it pulls you in, messes with your head, and then spits you out. Usually by now, most football games after a week, I know how to beat them on defualt easily, this one I am still struggling.

Madden : The Off the Field game/Management can´t be touched in madden. What I mean is it offers more of a off the field challange than 2k3 where you have to make more roster moves/team management decisions. So far, I have had a lot of injuries on my team, and the injuries are very realistic, things you would see in a real season. So I really have to make tuff decisions on who to pick up, do I play the season now with this scrub? etc... The management side of madden is really pleasing.

As I posted in response to this same question over at SR...

I was enjoying both on Xbox, but ended up taking Madden back to EB for full refund.

It has nothing to do with the quality of the game, but everything to do with one feature : Xbox live. I´m going to be playing NFL2K3 on Xbox live, and I need to focus all my energy on getting good at that game, not bouncing back and forth and having controller issues when I switch.

NFL2K3 is so hard for me I can´t bother to play any other game until I get much better at it. I want to be a reasonable player for the online leagues.
Same thing goes with me, the game is very hard for me for some reason, that´s why I really like it. I put it on fast mode as others suggested, and I do somewhat better, but fast mode in the long run somewhat loses the realism/challange that normal mode gives you. I still have a frustrating time playing defense.

The game is very challenging. I think the team specific play books also make a big impact. It is not a matter of which team runs the same plays best, but instead the match up of different styles comes into play.

The one thing I have noticed lately is that the CPU does not run the ball as often as they should. My defensive philosophy is to stop the run, but I think they give up too easily. But I guess I would pass too if I completed 70% of my passes. I need to become more balanced defensively. Any tips for stopping the pass (short of tinkering with the coverage slider)??

Still providing plenty of challenge for me, even at Rookie and Pro. No slider adjustments yet.

Regarding CPU QB accuracy, get a good pass rush on and control a defensive lineman instead of a linebacker, and you´ll see those percentages drop.

First, you´ll get more pressure on the QB if you control the D lineman. Second, you´ll have better coverage of wide receivers, tight ends and backs out of the backfield by letting the CPU play linebacker. I find the CPU blows less coverages and stays home better than me.

Yes PK, it is me. I am using my real name for this board since it seems it´ll be more serious in nature. Not to put down SR, I like SR also, still #1 in my book, fun site, but it seems this forum will be more no non-sense about gaming talk.
