Damn, that Philly turf is funky

Post by pk500 »

Anybody catch the sheen from the lights of that "fake-grass" turf in the Eagles-Ravens preseason game tonight on Fox?

I know the "NuTurf" was installed last year at the Vet, but I guess I saw no Eagles´ night games. The stuff is pretty cool and grass-like, as an indoor soccer facility about 3 miles from my house has it.

Anyone know anything about the stuff? What are the advantages over carpet turf?

And will the Eagles have a Corey Hart Night during an Eagles´ night game this year? You know, "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" to protect every one from turf glare?
Take care,

The team my brother coaches for has that turf, and says its awesome. Durable like astro-turf, but soft like grass, but it doesn´t burn your skin like astro turf does. I just wish they would have had it in Husky stadium when I played there, that turf they used to have, left me with no skin on my arms or elbows. They have it there now.

It´s called "NexTurf" and living near Philly it´s actually quite good. The players seem to like it and think it´ll do for this year. It´s a lot better than the turf they had 2 years ago which was like cement. Next year the Birds move into Lincoln Financial Field in South Philly where they´ll have a grass field.

I remember that Wendell Davis play. Tore both patella tendons without getting hit. Was just closing on a deep pass and his feet stuck to the turf. Only time I have ever seen anyone sustain 2 knee injuries on the same play.
Can you imagine, both patella tendon, thats gotta smart.
