Which NFL game, and for what system?

Post by pk500 »

So, boys, what´s it going to be this year?

I only own an Xbox, and the movies of NFL 2K3, combined with memories of so much fun with NFL 2K1 on the Dreamcast, have convinced me that NFL 2K3 for the Xbox will be my choice this year.

What about you guys?

I´m not much of a football fan, but have only read good things about Sega´s football games. Does it offer any online play?

[ This message was edited by: Galley on 11-08-2002 19:11 ]

Sorry....but it´s Madden for me. Always has been. I´ve appreciated NFL 2k3, but Madden seems to feel more real to me. So I´d have to pick Madden over the rest.

An expert has spoken, so you may wanna listen to him. Another idea is to visit your local retailers, as they are sure to have the football games in their demo machines when they are released.

I bought NFL 2K3 two days ago and found Madden 2003 and Fever 2003 at my local video store for rent last night, all for Xbox.

So I put the kids and my wife to bed and cozied up for four hours with these three games.

I´ve picked a winner based on VERY initial impressions and sent a news item to Jared for posting.

Let´s just say my winner has no words in it -- only letters and numbers.

Hey Paul, fatheadX from the SR forums here. We´ve been missing you over there. Where have you been hiding?

Hi Fats:

I´m done with the SR Forum due to the trolls, CommonSense and Superior Man. Didn´t want to deal with it anymore. It really became a drain on my time and like a sesame seed stuck in my gums -- annoying as hell.

Have you noticed that since Jackdog and I left the SR Forum, Common and Sup have disappeared? That all but confirms that those f***ers were baiting us big time, and someone always responded to their drivel even if Jack and I stayed quiet.

Bottom line: I hope they stay out of the Forum over there. Their departure -- and mine -- is for the best.

Hope all is well.

Take care,
PK

[ This message was edited by: pk500 on 17-08-2002 22:46 ]

My local Best Buy was demoting Madden on the PS2, NFL 2K3 on the Box and 989´s NFL on the PS2. I in;t both to look to see what the GameCube had to offer. 2K3 on the Box was jaw-dropping, as far as looks go. Madden was no slouch, either.

Hi, Paul!
Just a quick note about SR - I personally miss your posts there. You always had cool stuff to say and I still use your settings for NHL 2002! Those two idiots are still posting rubbish occasionally, but I think most of the readers don´t even bother viewing the text. I know I don´t. Anyway, good to see you and BTW, very nice piece about the football games. I am stuck in the middle so I have decided on playing dual seasons using each game and see how it all washes out at the end.

PK,

It´s good to see you posting somewhere! I too, miss your your comments over on SR. I´m glad to see you have a new place that your posting on. Hopefully, if Digital Sports has their Franchise Story(like they use to have) you´ll actually be able to win a game unlike the last guy who did it .

Oh yeah, back to the topic. I´ve bought the major Football games this year(Both NCAA´S, NFL2K3, and Madden) on the X-Box, and I seem to be having the most enjoyment out of NFL2K3.

I agree with Waddup - I like Madden alot, but I´m having a total blast learning NFL 2K3. My time is pretty much limited, but 2K3 seems to be getting the most time.

Blues:

Glad to learn your identity! Thanks again for your kind words.

I still visit SR and the Forum -- no hard feelings. But I no longer will post there for the forseeable future. CS and Superior just frayed my nerves and wasted my time too much. Plus I think it´s no coincidence that those two have disappeared or cut back their rhetoric since Jackdog and I left. I think Matt is banning Common, but Superior seems to be talking a hell of a lot more about games then when Jack and I were there.

But I´m still reading the SR Forums and appreciate everyone´s good input and advice. It´s a great spot.
Thanks for your kind words. Glad you´re digging NFL 2K3. I´m really enjoying it, too -- arguably the best console video football game I´ve ever played.

I have not decided yet, I still have PK to blame for my addiction to Championship Mananger,so I might go with Madden to save my marriage.

[ This message was edited by: JackDog on 19-08-2002 10:58 ]

Thank you for the welcome, PK! I´ve always been a notorious lurker in forums and now, I seem to be coming out of my shell and trying to get into the conversations.
Jackdog - I remember you, too, and I look forward to your comments as well!

Did someone say Championship Manager??

Drooooooooooool.

By the way, I´ve been playing Madden PC for the last few days....it´s an improvement over 2002, but there are a few niggling bugs and the default pro settings don´t seem too balanced, especially with run blocking.

I´ll let everyone know more as I play.

PK....

I agree with your review of the three football games for the Xbox...NFL 2k3, is just a much more fun and challenging experience than Madden, and we already know Fever sucks.

I just rented NFL 2k3 this past week and was a little disappointed with it.. Animations didn´t look as good IMO. Their faces and bodies are very well done, but noticed alot of "skating" during movements. Haven´t played Madden yet, and need to play 2k3 a little more b4 I count it out, but my first impression wasn´t what I´ve been reading..

I just bought Madden PC yesterday. I only got to play about 2 hours so far. I am going to rent NFL 2K3 for the GC, but with so many good games coming on the horizon I may just stick with NCAA 2003 and Madden.
Thanks for stopping by, dude. Good to see you.

Can´t go wrong with Madden and NCAA 2003. You know me: I´m no wallflower. But I honestly think anyone who gets Madden, NCAA or NFL 2K3 will be a winner this year.

As I said in my short column, it´s truly a matter of taste. All three are fine games.
