The difference between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony
Both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are incredibly skilled basketball players. But looking at their comments and the backdrops of their respective announcements about heading to the NBA the past two days says a lot about their respective character:

LeBron: Sat in front of a banner that read LeBronJames.com. Comments included: "When you see there´s no way you can get any hotter ... You´ve got to take on an opportunity when it´s in front of you and that´s what made me make this decision.´´

Carmelo: Sat in front of a Syracuse banner surrounded by coaches and players. Comments included: "It was a tough decision for me to make. I really don´t want to leave, to be honest. My teammates, I´m going to miss them so much, but moving on is an opportunity to take care of my family. It´s something I always wanted to do, and now I´ve got the opportunity to do that."

OK, I´m probably harping too hard on James. But it just seems to me that he´s as concerned about becoming a brand and a commodity, whereas Anthony is a very, very good kid who never called his teammates anything like his supporting cast or tried to become a brand name during his one, glorious year at Syracuse.

What do you think?
Take care,
PK

The difference between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony
I completely agree. I don´t know how much can be blamed on Lebron, and how much is on the leeches, media, and hype that has existed with this kid for the last few years, but it all rubs me the wrong way. Lebron is all about Lebron. He has yet to play in an NBA game, and acts like the worst of the NBA´s prima donnas. I really don´t wish for bad things to happen to people, but I would love to see him get his million dollar contract and signing bonus(so that theoritically his family should be taken care of), then be a complete bust in the NBA. Maybe then there would be some rationale and judgement used by the media, scouts, etc. before lumping so much praise, glory, and expectations on someone who has basically done nothing to earn it yet. Carmelo Anthony all the way!

The difference between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony
fact is both players will deliver at the next level

carmelo is a pure small forward and a winner

lebron james....instant season ticket jolt and a lighting bolt for tv ratings

and by the looks of all his performances he will deliver and deliver huge

he is just too insanely gifted.........

it would be nice to see a bit more humbleness

I would go with Carmelo no question. He is a team player and very unselfish. His head seems to be in the right place.

LeBron, well lets just say I got a bad feeling about that brother. It´s all about LeBron, and the people he has around him will only make him a bigger head case.

Carmelo kicked ass against some very good college ballers,LeBron was dunking on 6 foot high school kids playing center.

Yeah I know he played aginst a few top notch high school prep teams. But how many of those guys are the caliber of the talent that played in the Big East last year?

I´ll go with a kid that pounded the Big East, rather then Clevelands Catholic league.

What´s up fellahs. I think C-Mello has proven that he is a class act and can play effectively at a higher level of basketball competition. I would agree that Lebron is the best high school basketball player, but he hasn´t really proven anything. It is the hype of Lebron that eveyone seems to be putting forth. Potential has never done anything in competitive sports, but it means the world when it comes to marketing and business..in this case Lebron´s potential earning potential. If there is no upfront hype, then how can they possibly sell his sneakers before he ever proves or disproves how good he is. If you ask me I think whoever has his sneaker contract is paying a lot of people a lot of money to hype this kid.

Spot-on, Nova.

Now that MJ has retired for the 48th and hopefully final time, Mars Blackman needs a job. Lebron would be perfect because after all, "It´s about the shoes, yo!"

The difference between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony
There is one major physical difference between Lebron and Carmelo...

Lebron is a better passer with better vision. That´s it. Otherwise I think Carmelo is better. If I had to choose, I´d have to go with Lebron, even though I love Carmelo.

The upside to Lebron might be a bit higher, like Kobe Bryant level and you´d get criticized forever if you pick Melo over him and Lebron turns out to be the next coming of Kobe.

well if carmelo comes close to the clinic lebron is putting on we are in for a treat the next few years

nice to see Lebrons a bit of a throwback to bird/magic.... actually refreshing

may not have thought that from all the hoopla around him in high school but that sure is what he resembles on the court
