Is there any cure for ESPN swing delay online?

Post by laurenskye »

After getting adjusted to the game I decided to try it online. AAARRRGGGHHH!
The swing delay was so bad we'd have to push the swing button before the pitch left the pitchers hands. The guy I played got 1 hit and Colon struck out 25 batters! It doesn't seem to be lag because the rest of the game played fine.

This is a game killer for online and makes the game unplayable.

I havent tried it yet, but supposedly if you hit x at the team selection screen you can slow down the pitch speeds. If it works that should help.

My previous experiences online have been the same as you described.

I have found online to be a waste of time.

guys, online is not a waste of time....if you hit "x" at the team selection screen you can change all sorts of settings.

turn pitch speed to "slow"...it is great.

Youw ill still have a challenge but if you whiff on bad pitches it is "your" fault...it really is great when you have a smooth connection.

I finally got online again. And it is true the x button at the team selection screen allows you to change settings. I lowered pitch speed to medium and removed the strike zone and had an excellent game. Much better. There is still a slight delay in swinging and sometimes my swing does not register which is annoying. But on the whole it was a good experience.

Online is not a waste of time at all, and that's with the pitches coming at regular speed. After my first game or two, where I was striking out repeatedly, I adjusted to the slight delay and I don't think I've scored under six runs since (which is not a game flaw, but rather speaks to how guys have been pitching me). Sometimes you have to guess on a pitch-I've particularly seen players try to use Colon to blaze fastballs by me, and from time to time, you simply have to guess fastball and swing on delivery. Sometimes you're going to strike, but you're going to connect enough times and do enough damage to force him to mix up his arsenal. Once you can take away the threat of the fastball down the pipe, you can start picking your spots as a batter, and pitch counts will go up (not to mention walks).

Sorry, online is not a waste of time at all. You simply need to play a few games to get up to speed, but all in all it takes less of a learning curve than Splinter Cell did.

Can you use updated rosters online?

Can you change your starters or alter your lineup in online games before they start?

No to the roster updates. Yes to changing your lineup and starting pitcher before the game starts.

Cincy- If you're up late, I'm good for a game, although it will have to be with headset off. Indians-Reds?
