ESPN: Too unrealistic?

Post by Theo »

In my last game the opposing pitcher had a home run, double and a single. If this is any indication how the game is going to be, it's going back. BTW, I didn't throw these pitches down the middle. The surprising thing is, this is on the PRO difficulty.

Did you throw all of the pitches in the strike zone? Who was the pitcher?

Does it happen to you every game? Anything can happen once. I don't think I've given up anything greater than a single to a pitcher yet.

I once saw Tom Seaver come a triple away for hitting for the cycle when he played for the Reds. It happens. And I can say w/o a doubt that pitchers are not sluggers in ESPN.

The pitcher was Jason Jennings of the Rockies. A good hitting pitcher, but still. The pitches were on the very edge of the strike zone but I thought since he was a pitcher he wouldn't hit them. I will give the game a chance, I probably just need to get used to it.

My two comments are:

1) just b/c you aimed ouside doesn't mean your pitches ended up there
2) it sounds like your game was in Colorado - the ball carries pretty well there.

I believe three of the Rockies starters hit over .300 at home in 2002, including Jennings, so yeah, pitchers can mash at Coors.
