Baseball Games?

Howdy boys, its been awhile but I am back. I want to know if the bells and whistles have peaked your interest in ASB 2003? Or are you sold on something else and why?

Hello JD.

Just posted on this subject below. HH and MVP have my interest piqued the most. HH because it is nice and reliable, and MVP because the advertised changes are some of the ones I had been wanting in a baseball game for some time now!
I´m with you on HH. It´s reliable and realistic. If the graphics are improved, that´s a bonus.

WSB could be a great game if the strike zone shrinks. It was impossible to be a selective hitter with last year´s huge strike zone. Plus, all of the historic uniforms are fantastic eye candy in this year´s game.

MVP is a wild card. It has some cool features, such as the pitch meter, and looks really nice. But it´s an EA Sports product, and we´ve all been burned too many times before by breathless promises of improved gameplay from the EA PR department.

ASB is definitely out for me. The game moves way too slowly, and the tilting batting cursor is an unrealistic joke.

There should be plenty of good hardball choices this spring -- a bonus for gamers.
P.S.: Glad you and Jack are posting here again. This is a BS-free zone, with posts almost always pertaining to sports and sports gaming.

High Heat will be my pick, for the X-Box. I love that game! It will be a interesting spring with the other games out there.

PK,ASB has an option to bat cursor free,I am going to rent it just to get a baseball fix until HH comes out.

Jack:
Glad to know about the cursor option for ASB. Thanks.

But there was other s*** in that game that bothered me, too. First, the outfields all seemed too small. Second, the animations on routine ground balls, in which it looked like the player was fielding a Baltimore chop nearly every time, were pretty lame.

Nitpicks, I know. But they bothered me, so what can I say?

PK:

There is one thing that´s in High Heat this year that would drive me nuts.....

The player on first base sliding back to the bag on a pickoff throw feet first. WTF is that? I will not get the game because of that. It would just piss me off more and more everytime I see it. What I´m trying to say is I agree with the fact that there are little things that just turn people off of games.

I watched a few of the movies at IGN on both WSB and HH2004. Based purely on graphics, I thought that WSB was more impressive, but I already knew that would be the case. I´ve never doubted HH´s baseball model, but I can´t get over the "generic" presentation. I expected more out of this one given a year to improve on what they had last year. It´s not like they had to devote a whole lot of energy to the baseball game engine to make it playable. That´s why I can´t understand the still mundane presentation.
