Yes, the sucker I am, I will probably be picking up both the Xbox version and the PC version of Colin McRae 4. Xbox version so that I can compete in the DSP Rally and post times to XBL, PC version so that I can use a wheel, play multiplayer online, and get mods with all the 2004 drivers, liveries, etc.

I just hate the fact that it takes so long for Codies to release their titles in the US. The rest of the world has had the console versions of CMR4 for several months now, and I will probably end up importing the PC version as it is unlikely it will be released in the US at all. Fortunately, importing PC games is no big deal as there is little price difference and obviously no PAL issues to deal with.

So yeah, I am excited about it, but its been out so long already and I have read so many reviews and forum posts about it that there is really no mystery or hype at this point. Its just waiting for the damn release.

Oh, yeah, I´m all over CMR 4. Hope to get a freebie copy from the Codies, but I´ll buy it on release day if that doesn´t come through.

The CMR series, even including the mediocre CMR 3.0, is arguably my favorite videogame series of all time.

Colin McRae Rally 04

Post by JRod »

The only reason I brought this up was that there was 5 copies sitting on a backshelf of the counter at my local Gamestop. They could have been promotional but 5 copies of a promotional game??? Anyway they were CMR 04. I had to look long and hard and try to remember what numbering sequence they were using. (Thanks EA Sports and acclaim for sequencing their games in the most haphazard way. I really can´t wait for the day I´ll see Madden 2015 in 2007.)

Anyway I should have asked to see a copy.

Unfortunately, if they are going to stick with McRae in the name, then it may need to be Colin McRae "Dakar" Rally, or maybe even Colin McRae LeMans 24, or Colin McRae BTCC, or Colin McRae Nascar....the rumors seem to continue as to where he is going to end up.

If they want to keep it a rally game then maybe they change to Petter Solberg Rally or Sebastian Loeb Rally.

You know, I think Colin McRae Rally: Dakar would be a great idea for the next iteration of the game, assuming there weren´t any licensing issues with the peeps that publish Parks-Dakar rally.

PGR proved with the ´Ring that the XBox can handle super long courses, so why not try a Paris-Dakar type game with the Colin McRae driving model? Hell, I´d buy it.

Me, too. It HAS to be better than the two Dakar games released in the last two or three years. Paris-Dakar Rally for the PS2 was absolutely awful.

I also would like to see a quality sports car game, either Le Mans, ALMS or Grand-Am, with licensed tracks, cars and drivers. And ANY F1 game for the Xbox would be welcomed, maybe even an EA Sports F1 game.

I thought EA´s F1 license ended after publishing F1 Career Challenge... I could be wrong about that.

You´re right, though, I´d love to see a XBox F1 game, especially since the season is right around the corner and I really want to tackle Bahrain.
