Here are the fixes in the auto-update:

Fix Dirty Disc Error seen after playing on-line then immediately playing career mode and completing a tournament event.

Fix to allow non-autoupdated Links 2004 to play with autoupdated Links 2004 via System-Link. While a very small customer scenario, it can come up.

Fix career skills exploit when turning off Xbox at rewards screen. Note: people who have used this exploit will have their skill points gained through this exploit removed from their point list. Any legit money earned is returned to the players bank account to respend. We debated hard on how to solve this issue. I think we have a fair solution.

Fix Live! and XSN Sports Pin Positions not being identical for all players. Now in all rounds, whether Solo played, or together, everyone will have the same exact pin locations

Fix Live! and XSN Sports not being placed at the correct tees for your rounds in certain cases. This was a rare case, only on certain courses with specific tee settings.

Fix to allow balls to be hit out of rocks or trees if they come to rest inside of one. We turned off collisions inside of rocks and trees. This should make it much more difficult to end up in one (most common case was a ball rolling under the lip of a rock that was not planted fully into the terrain) and in the cases a person is in one, they can hit out instead of having it bounce around.

Fix Game Freeze if system date has changed between log off then log onto Live!

Fix Premium Content Download of Kapalua. 5 holes, including the 18th were not using Championship tees. Now on the 18th hole you are >600 yards away from the tee (our computation is using straight line, so it reads 601yds I believe).

Fix Live! leaderboard stats being cleared or corrupted during heavy load.

Fix XSN Sports data package posting issues during heavy load.

Fix AI Gimme shot so now the ball will never get stuck floating above the hole, with the AI golfer taking putt after putt after putt until it hits 12.

This one is for EvanXE and TRUCK!!!! Added rumble to controller when users join the lobby when hosting a Live! game. Now if you create a game, and are waiting for people to join, you can switch your TV to the news and when someone joins, your controller will rumble. You can then switch back from the news to start the game. Controller will also rumble in the lobby if the host leaves and host-duties migrate to another Xbox.

[ This message was edited by: BigBerthaEA on 03-02-2004 07:52 ]

All of these fixes are appreciated, but this one is the coolest!
I really like that feature and wondered why my controller rumbled after a round last night!

Two known issues with the Auto-update
Posted: 02-04-2004 02:33 PM

With the help of the community we have identified two problems with the auto-update that released on Monday. We apologize these are in the code and scrambling now to fix the issues.

Issue 1: XSN Sports data is not always posting. We *think* (we´re running through a lot of testing on this scenario now) that if you play back to back stroke rounds some of those rounds overwrite each other.

For example, Player - A is in a 4 round stroke tournament. He plays Rounds 1, 2, and 3 back to back in 30 mins. The XSN website picks up Player A´s scores, and puts round 1 into Round 2´s spot, or it can put Round 3 into Round 2´s spot.

WORK AROUND All our testing so far shows if you play a round, wait until it posts to the website, you can then play the next round just fine. As long as you wait until it posts to the website before playing your next round everything seems okay.

Issue 2: Viewing a saved shot from before the update will cause your profile to get hit by the roll-back check from the auto-update.

WORK AROUND Don´t view saved shots.

For both of these issues we are continuing to validate and work on addressing the problems. The last thing anyone on my team wanted was issues created by the auto-update. We have unfortunately gotten to this position and all I can ask is patience while we try to work through the issues.

I give you my word we´ll get this straightened out. This is now our #1 priority and this seems to be squarely on my team´s shoulder´s not XSN´s side. I will find someway to try to make up for this pain down the road.

Sincerely,
Thanks Tim... I tell you what; Daryl Welsh and his team are a special breed. It´s not often that you see this kind of service, commitment, and communication in the video game industry!

And I gotta say this about Links 2004. I went through a honeymoon phase with it where I couldn´t put it down. Then I realized I wasn´t getting any better, and was having these horrible duffer phases where I couldn´t keep my tee shots on my own hole, let alone the fairway. I mothballed the game for a while.

When I got my new Toshiba 32" color set with component video capability, and then some component cables for the XBox, the game took on new life (versus my old 1988 25" G.E. set with composite video). Not only for its incredibly vibrant graphics, but for my new approach which calls for a much more deliberate swing. I´m getting more clubhead speed with my new philosophy, plus I´m hitting far more fairways.

As much as I dislike the Kapalua course, I gotta admit that this version is the best I´ve seen, far and away. I´m glad that I downloaded it now.
Daryl Welsh represents everything that is RIGHT with the gaming industry as well as a model of support by producers with their games. If not for him and David Cass supporting the Links 2004 community, I would have quit playing the game weeks ago. As a matter of fact, I have not played Links 2004 for several weeks waiting for the patch. For some reason, I just can´t get enough of TW 04 PC right now.
