At the risk of sounding like a prude here... I thought this was one of the sleaziest, cheapest stunts I´ve ever seen. The only thing positive I can say for it is that it was a fitting insult for the worst Super Bowl halftime show I´ve ever seen. A far cry from the show that U2 put on 2 years ago, when they paid a touching tribute to the 9-11 victims. I think at the very least it was disrepectful to the teams playing in the superbowl to put on a friggin´ county fair hoochie-coochie show at halftime!
 
 I´m not saying that people don´t have a right to do this sort of thing, but not at the halftime of the most watched sporting event of the year, with millions of underage, impressionable eyes watching. My 9 year old son had no framework in which to put that, and I felt like an idiot for letting him watch that much of the halftime show.

 I agree brother,it´s the sign of the times. Money talks and family entertainment walks. My son saw a halftime show that included Justin Timberlake ripping off a willing Jackson´s clothes. Wow what a great message for kids his age.
 
 NBC had a "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy " marathon last night. Nothing says family TV like gay men throwing hissy fits over decorating and makeover ideas.
 
 That being said I´ll take explaining Janet´s nipple to my son over 4 gay men acting like his mother.
 
 Best bet is to lock your kids cable box on the Cartoon and Discovery channels.

 What a f*cking joke. This isn´t directed toward anyone in here, just to America in general: People need to get laid or go to hardcorejunky.net more often if they´re freaking over an exposed boob.
 
 I think it´s hilarious, especially since one of the biggest prisses in the music business, Justin Timberlake, has to resort to stunts to prove his street cred.

I´m in the PR business, but this statement from Timberlake stretches belief:
 
 "I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl," Timberlake said in a statement. "It was not intentional and is regrettable."
 
 Matt Drudge isn´t the Edward R. Murrow of our generation, but he does have a story saying CBS knew about this stunt all along despite its denials.

Yeah, they keep referring to a malfunction of some sort, but no one is saying what was meant to happen had the "stunt" gone correctly. Nice try!
 
 I agree with you that people shouldn´t go nuts over an exposed boob, but no doubt there were some awkward moments among America´s families last night.

Is it just me, or is Justin Timberlake camper than Capt. Campy McCamp from the Queen´s Own Royal Campers ( to paraphrase Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder).

Well, we here in Canada got a very sexy ad for Labatt´s Blue.
 
 Two hot chicks in a bar, one putting on lip-gloss. The other one says "I really like your lipgloss". Response: "do you want some"? So, next, instead of handing the lip-gloss to her, they lock lips in a kiss that would harden Ron Jeremy. Not a small kiss.. open mouth, tongue...
 
 
 Cut to 3 guys standing there with their jaws on the floor as the ladies look at them seductively. They all grab a beer and head out to the dance floor.
 
 Now, I for one don´t care about this... my 3.5 year old didn´t see it, but if he did I would just explain it to him. However I can only imagine all the people across Canada who are NOT comfortable with this, having to explain it to their small children.

Things like this really digust me about my country. Screw morals, money is all that matters. Personally, I like seeing all of Janet that I can, but not during a time when we have children watching. Being a responsilbe parent can´t even prevent somethig like this. Who would think the halftime at the Super Bowl would be rated NC-17?
 
 I find this real ironic after that touching tribute to the space shuttle crew at the start of the game. I didn´t think that had it´s place at the Super Bowl either. It´s not like the event just happened the week before, and this is supposed to be a fun, exciting event, not a memorial service.
 
 So it look like they are trying to satisfy everyone. maybe they tought all the kiddies would be in bed by halftime. This whole money is all that matters mentality is disturbing. This country is pretty much morally bankrupt at this stage. We´ll whore ourselves out for anything is there´s enough $$$ involved.

MattK has a good point. And say what we will about how corny Opening and Closing Ceremonies are at Olympic Games, but even the worst of those spectacles has more class and grace than last night´s halftime "show."
 
 I also agree that the U2 show two years ago was a classy exception to most trashy Super Bowl halftime shows. Sure, I love U2, so I´m biased. But I thought it was very well done and tasteful without being overtly political.

I also got a weird feeling from the Columbia tribute, especially when they trotted out the spaceman on that foam moon... sort of reminded me of the Stonehenge scenery from Spinal Tap. Ugh.

Well, as a card-carrying prude, I´ve got to say that I am extremely glad that I TiVoed my way through the halftime show. I was pretty sure that it was going to be a big T&A show. Who knew just how bad it would be?
 
 Guys, you can say that this is material only suitable for grown-ups, but I would maintain that it´s really not suitable for anyone. Yet our culture seems to keep slouching its way to lower and lower standards.

MTV even screwed this up -- they should have put the nipple on at the BEGINNING of the half-time show. No one would have changed their channels after that.
 
 I was more offended by Janet´s horrible lip-synching.
 
 The problem with the half-time show is that it´s a 25 minute salute to marketing demographics. They try to pack as much crap as they can, so there´s no flow or energy to any of the performances. That´s one of the reasons U2 was so good, they had a chance to get in a groove.
 
 Next year, they should just have Chris Rock do 20 minutes of stand-up.

 Very true. The U2 show was really well done. And speaking of the Olympics, didn´t either Bono or Sting do a number at the opening ceremonies with Yo-Yo Ma? I remember that being very classy also.
 
 Sorry I missed the show last night (well, I guess I am). I purposefully switched over to Independence Day on FOX because I had absolutely no interest in watching Justin Timberlake fart around on stage. Who put this guy on the halftime show anyway? Is there any prime Super Bowl demographic group that has any interest in this guy, other than as a generic target for Janet´s flirting? That was a little wierd.

Apparently this "wardrobe malfunction" had the desired effect. No one is talking about what great game the Super Bowl was, this has the spotlight. I´m a Panther fan and I´m delighted with the game.
 
 I´ve never seen Delhomme have a better game throwing the football. He had a few get dropped on him early in the gam, but once he got heated up - it was on. The Patriots were clearly the superior team, IMO, and I commend them for an excellent game plan.
 
 I questioned Fox´s decision to go for two when they made it 21-16, and I don´t know whether Kasay´s kickoff was an attempt to kick away from someone, or he just flubbed it, but when it happened, I told my wife - it´s over... and it was <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_frown.gif">
