PK - What Xbox Games Are In Your Collection?

Post by grtwhtsk »

Hi PK and everyone at Digital Sportspage. It´s good to be here. I frequently post at OS, and sometimes at SR.

Anyway, I know that PK only has games in his collection that he likes playing (unlike some of us who have those that are collecting dust!), so I was wondering what he´s got in his Xbox library. Actually I would be interested to hear what anyone has in their xbox collections. Being a sports gamer, I rarely venture too far outside the genre!

I´ve gotten NFL2K3, Madden 2003, ESPN MLS Extratime 2002, PGR, and Halo. I had WSB2K3 and really enjoyed it....but I then found myself disinterested once the football games came out. Who knows I might pick it up again one day...but if baseball players strike....well I think you know. Anyway, football now, basketball in a couple of months, and hockey.

Later all.

Good to see you, man. Thanks for stopping by.

Damn, your Xbox collection almost mirrors mine. Here´s what I have:

NFL 2K3
ESPN MLS Extratime 2002
Amped Snowboarding
Project Gotham Racing
Halo
NASCAR Heat 2002
Jet Set Radio Future

My wish list grows by the day, too.

Speaking of WSB 2003, I think I need to pick it up cheap on eBay or half.com. I rented it about a month ago and really enjoyed it. But I waited on buying it because of the looming football games, figuring I´d be disinterested due to pigskin mania.

Well, I have football fever and am playing the hell out of NFL 2K3. But I also miss WSB 2K3, even when playing a ton of football. So I just may pick it up on the cheap.

I´m already harder than Chinese arithmetic about NHL 2K3, especially playing online through Xbox Live!

Don´t be a stranger, man!

PK,

Great to hear back from you. I rented Amped and really enjoyed it. I´m sure I´ll be picking it up in the near future.

Hey what´s the word on Heat for the Xbox. I keep reading conflicting reports about whether it´s coming out for the Xbox this year. It has to be....I hope. I´m not sure whether I should pick up the ´2002 version (saw it at Target for 19.99) or just wait and see. So many games, so little time and money!

When is NHL2K3 coming out? Online play....I cannot wait!!

Take care,

NASCAR Heat 2002 for the Xbox for $19.99 at Target? I would buy it tonight even if Heat 2003 was being released in the next two weeks.

Heat 2002 for the Xbox is the best NASCAR game I´ve played, by far. You´ll get $20 worth of enjoyment from it in one week. One tip: Be sure to reduce the sensitivity settings for the controller. The default is twitchier than an F1 car on dry tires in the rain.

I also hear conflicting reports about Heat 2003 on the Xbox. I hope it´s released, as Heat 2002 for the Xbox restored my faith in the ability of a console developer to create a good NASCAR sim. And Heat 2003, with it´s cool-looking career mode, could be even better.
PK,

Thanks for the advice and the tip. I´ll be heading over to Target tonight! One question, how much did you reduce the sensitivity settings in the controller? As I don´t have the game, I don´t know how much the range is.

There is no sign of Heat for the Xbox on Gamestop.com. I can´t get through to Ebgames.com.

Heat for $20, that´s a great deal. Is that only for Xbox, I´d love to hit that deal for the PS2.

Gators,

I only saw the Xbox version in Target´s clearance section. I´m sure it is on a store by store basis. If they have them in for the PS2, then they will probably be the same price by you.
Controller sensitivity is a lot like breast size preferences for a man: It´s strictly a matter of taste.

Just mess around with the settings and find one you like. Now if we could only do that with breasts ...

Great:

Not sure if you´re a tinkerer with setups like me, but the setup options in NASCAR Heat absolutely CRUSH anything you´ll find in any EA NASCAR game.

And the setups do make a big difference in handling. But luckily, the stock setups are pretty close.

The stock setups don´t share the same characteristics at every track, either. One of my biggest beefs about NASCAR Thunder is that the stock setups are too tight at nearly every track. In Heat 2002 for the Xbox, some of the stock setups are too tight, others are too loose and some are just right, at least for my driving style.

Enjoy, man. Let us know what you think! NASCAR Heat for the Xbox is almost like a different game than the PS2 version -- miles better. For starters, there is a 43-car field!

PK,

Thanks for the advice on setups. I picked up Heat last night, but found myself too immersed in NFL2K3 to get the game out of the bag! I will try it out tonight. I´ve already put NFL2k3 back in its case to make sure I get some racing in!
Know the feeling, bro. I had an agenda for last night´s free time that flushed into the septic tank once I started up NFL 2K3 around 10:30 p.m. The next thing I know, it´s 1:55 a.m.

PK,

Heat is a blast....I spent about an hour with it, but then got right back to football with NFL2K3. I am just too into that game right now!

Hey I know the feeling about time flying by,".....just one more game" I say to my wife as she finds me playing at 2:00 AM!!

Glad you dig it. Yeah, know the feeling about NFL 2K3 ruling your gaming life.

I looked at my stack of games last night and said, "Man, I haven´t played Heat in a couple of weeks." I was on a massive Heat binge about two weeks ago, and then NFL 2K3 was released.

I then thought to myself, "Sh*t, you haven´t played ANYTHING except for NFL 2K3 lately ..." Actually, the only other game I´m playing besides NFL 2K3 is FIFA World Cup 2002 for an upcoming review.

Otherwise, NFL 2K3 is dominating my gaming life.

Hey Guys,

What are you guys using to control Heat? Standard, S Controller, or wheel? I know on the PS2 I couldn´t drive consistent laps in Heat until I got the wheel. That´s why I haven´t picked up Heat for the Xbox yet.

I wish someone would put out a high quality wheel on the Xbox. I seem to recall a company called Microsoft that makes a decent wheel for the PC, maybe they should do one for the Xbox.

Mix:

I use either the original Xbox controller or Controller S. The analog triggers are WAY more precise for gas and brake than the right stick on the PS2 Dual Shock.

But I suggest Xbox Heat owners reduce the sensitivity of the steering with the left joystick. The default setting is way too twitchy.

The combination of triggers and an adjusted steering sensitivity offers sublime control for the Xbox version of Heat, in my opinion.

Great game. Rivals WoO on the PS2 as my favorite console oval racer ever.
Thanks for the info and advice. I´ll pick up Heat this weekend if I can find it. If you rank it up there with WoO it must be pretty dang good.

Well, no luck with Heat for my Xbox. The only place I could find that had it in stock was WalMart and it was still $49.96 there. Maybe I´ll try Ebay or something. And I was all set to run some laps at Bristol to get ready for tonight. Oh well.
