Far Cry 5

Post by Pete1210 »

Coming March 27! (barring further delay)

https://www.pcgamesn.com/far-cry-5/far- ... ements?amp

This is my second most anticipated game after RDR2. I had a blast with Far Cry 4 campaign and clearing outposts in coop. It was also one of the best looking games at the time. I can't wait to see Far Cry 5 on Xbox One X.

https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/20 ... lease-date

As soon as I read about the season pass I changed my pre-order to the Gold Edition. I like how the 3 DLCs are outside of the regular game world. Instead of just more missions in Montana, you get Far Cry in Vietnam, on Mars and a Zombie wasteland. Plus with the season pass you get Far Cry 3 digital. All that for 100 disc or 90 digital.

Bestbuy GCU gets you Gold edition on disc for 80 and a 10 off coupon with pre-order. No discount on digital, but pre-order does get you the 10 coupon.

I played all the series and yeah I have it preordered as well although I doubt I will go for the Gold version. Never get tired of the looting, stealth kills and massive exploration.

I was going to give it a go at midnight last night but decided to wait until tonight. IGN has the game as an 8.9...review in progress. Polygon gave it a 6.5. They said a lot of good things about it but that the story was bad. 6.5? Have they ever played a Far Cry game? I haven’t but everything I have heard and read is they are over the top. Some of these gaming sites need to get over themselves. You are reviewing a game not literature.

Rant over...looking forward to giving it a go later on this evening.

Eurogamer just posted their review and basically said the game is all over the place, i.e. disjointed. I’ll try it when it hits $20. Seeing it’s a Ubisoft game, it shouldn’t take too long.

Eh, seems like reviewers have become too politically correct and over sensitive. Haven't played a ton of story, but story in a far cry game just isn't the main reason to play. Mechanics and gameplay are, and I loved the hell out of what I played last night. Finally made myself shut the damn thing off at 2:30am...lol. I don't know if the story is good or not, but I know the main bad guy is creepy as hell.

Yeah, I just read enough of that polygon crap to know they were hoping for a diatribe against a portion of America they don't like. Stupid. You'll love the game, Bill. Hit me up tonight if you want to co-op.

Agree 100% with Teal. Sites are becoming ridiculous, I try to pay no attention to most of them.

It's gorgeous, and it's Far Cry so you know it's going to be chaotic. It seems like you can die in a split second in FC5. I thought I'd outrun a boat on the river, and...boom. I think it took 15 seconds for the 50 cal to chew my boat (and me) up.

And in 4K HDR on the X1X? Beautiful.

Played some more today, and like Terry said, it's Far Cry. If you've played 2, 3, or 4 you know exactly what to expect in terms of gameplay. That suits me just fine. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. I love the Montana setting, it's just gorgeous.

Yeah, it’ll suit me just fine. The looting, the stealthy territory conquers, the side misssions, the badass bosses, the ridiculous heights you’ll need to climb up to unlock a radio or liberate a town will probably be all too familiar. Add Men’s best friend to help on your missions and it’ll be icing on the cake.

I played the opening last night and really enjoyed it. I was totally exhausted (its baseball season and the spring weather is wearing me out) so I fell asleep once or twice so I just hit the hay. I am looking forward to getting into it later tonight. Game looks right up my alley.

I just wrapped up one part of the story (and accidentally spoiled it for Terry-sorry man! ). This game is a ton of fun. It's got a serious underbelly, but it doesn't take itself seriously at all. One mission had me running errands for a film director that said he used to work on far cry, but he never wanted to go back because "who the hell wants to work on far cry?" Lol. Another random line from one of my NPC buddies: "Hey, is what's his nuts still president! Y'know, that orange Russian guy?" LMFAO. s*** ton of stuff to do. Love hunting and fishing.
