OT: SNES Classic (willing to pay if anyone snags an extra)

Post by grtwhtsk »

Guys, I apologize if there is already a thread on this. I searched and didn't see any.

If anyone can pick me up an SNES Classic tomorrow and ship it to me, I would be willing to pay $50 over cost. I would really like to share this with my boy Seth and show him what his Dad was doing in the early 90s.

In all seriousness, I hate paying a premium, and obviously can't afford eBay, but I can picture his face already...and that is worth the cost. I have read that stores may have it, but I can't camp overnight as I need to always be on guard with my daughter's illness. I would try to hit the stores in the AM hoping for luck, but I actually have an interview for a real job (been doing contract work for the past 5 years), and so I am out of luck.

I am not a beggar, and I hate asking. Just throwing it out there in case anyone is lucky enough to snag more than one.

My son is going to Best Buy at 5 in the morning with my wife. If they are able to snag an extra, I'll let you know.

Read that Target will have a lot of them for sale in store tomorrow, put your zip code in to check stock available here:

My local store shows 41 of them on hand, might stop after work tomorrow.

Looks like BB is giving out tickets at 7 AM and limit is 1 per customer. Target is also giving out tickets for those in line.

Very sorry Steve, but I was unable to nab an extra one. :( My son learned of a midnight release at a Walmart nearby, and preferred waiting last night rather than getting up at 3:30 this morning. My wife dropped him off around 7:30 p.m. and he was 5th in line. This store had only received 20 while other stores got significantly more. By 10 p.m. they were all accounted for. The Walmart manager insisted they not sit on the floor or sit in chairs because it was a fire hazard. So, the last 2 and a half hours they had to stand.

I promise to keep my eye out for one. Again, I apologize that the plans changed yesterday evening. Best Buy wasn't going to start handing out tickets until 8 a.m. this morning and he would have missed first hour and then he had an essay he had to make up from yesterday in his second hour.

I was pleasantly surprised to find them in stock when I went to pick up my preorder of Forza 7, glad the situation looks a lot better than the NES last year.

I was at Best Buy picking up a game when I see all these people standing in line and I thought the Xbox One X was released or something. HAHA.. I had no idea it was the SNES classic.

FYI regarding these things:
Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition mini console is coming back. Nintendo said in a release today that last year’s popular but hard to find miniature version of the Nintendo Entertainment System will return to store shelves next summer.
“I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites,” he told the Financial Times, adding that Nintendo had “dramatically increased” production of the SNES Classic.

Nintendo has promised since it announced the Super NES Classic Edition that it intends to make “significantly more” retro consoles than it did during the NES Classic Edition’s lifespan. But actually pre-ordering and guaranteeing one of the systems has been a headache for consumers, and Nintendo had only committed to manufacturing the Super NES Classic Edition through the end of 2017, leading to worries that the retro system would be hard to find.

Another FYI, the nes and snes classic are identical inside, just different shells and software.

I played for about an hour or so over the weekend. Tried out F Zero, Super Mario World, and Star Fox (just to unlock Star Fox 2). Thought the games looked nice and crisp and didn't notice any lag that would affect the gameplay.

The game I'm most looking forward to playing is Yoshi's Island, never had a chance to play it back in the day.

I played it for about a half hour. Some games have definitely shown their age (Mario Kart and Star Fox to name a couple). But there's definitely some real gems in there. I like these sets of games overall better than the NES classic games. I'm looking forward to adding several more games to this little system.

I think we can only have the 21 games that came with it.

Curious, what are you playing the games in...CRT, 4:3, or Pixel Perfect?
