Headset question

I went back through this thread as I'm looking for a new headset. Here is what i want

A Wireless headset with mic I can use on my XB1X and PC. I'd prefer to use I want to be able to easily switch between my PC and XB1X without a lot of work. Obviously needs to have a good mic and a way to control the mic input and mute easily.

I've looked at the Plantronics rig 800lx mention here. It appears to have a wireless dongle that needs to be plugged in. Can this easily be moved between the PC and XB1X? I would assume a Bluetooth headset might be a better option and allow for use on my iPhone and PS4 but those are secondary.

Any help appreciated.

Dan:

Here's the cheapo headset I mentioned last night. Wired, but it works great and might be a good stop-gap until you find the ultimate rig:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XW ... UTF8&psc=1

It's $23. I think I got it on sale for about $15. Works flawlessly!

Thanks PK

I found a review on the plantronics says that set even works on the PS4 as a usb headset (ie minus features) I may go with that one.

I grabbed the Plantronics from Best Buy we had like $60 in credit / coupons so it was under $100 for them.

My launch Xbone had a power issue so I got an X. I got the launch unit fixed and want my kid to have it. Do I need to get a new gamertag/live subscription or what? Is there some sort of family plan?

Crazy, I was about to ask the same question. There was an Xbox Live Gold family plan years ago for $100 that gave 4 Gold licenses, but it was discontinued back in 2013. From what I can tell, if you want to be able to have you and your kids to be able to play Live at the same time, then you will need Live Gold accounts for each. Right now I pay for 2 Live Gold accounts for me and my son as we like to play against each other, or team up, in live games on different consoles, basically $120/year. I have been unable to find a cheaper option unfortunately.

However, if you just want each kid to have their own Live gamertag that can then be used on the main home console, I believe that can be accomplished with just one Gold membership (see link below):

Samsung UH750 27.9" TN 4K UHD QLED Monitor - $349.99

https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/mo ... xza/#specs

http://www.microcenter.com/product/4884 ... ED_Monitor

Is this a good deal, and would it give me the ability to run Xbox One X at 4K UHD, as well as PC games? I can't tell if this monitor supports HDCP 2.2 or not. That is the main thing to look for to make sure it will take full advantage of Xbox One X, correct?

I'll need to set that one up as a new live account. I was thinking back to the Family plan but didn't see anything about it online.

You do not need to pay for multiple Xbox live gold subs if just using two consoles. I have two boys and we’ve all enjoyed live gold and playing online with each other using just one gold account for years.

You need to set the kids console as your (dads) home console. That console now gets all gold and game content no matter if dad is signed in or not. You also need to create new live accounts for each kid so they have their own gamer tag and then join them to your family. Here you can set content and time restrictions per kid. This also carries over to PCs or laptops if you require them to sign in with their Microsoft account.

On your (dads) console have it set to automatically log you in when it turns on. As long as you are signed in then that console gets all gold and game content as well. You can have multiple profiles signed on one console at a time. This way your kids can also use your console if needed as well since your gamer tag signs in automatically.

I’m not sure what adding a third console to the mix does since we only use two.

Forgot to mention...

Purchases - they follow the account that made the purchase. Any games that I know the whole family will play I purchase digitally with my Xbox account. This way the game can be installed/played on both consoles...at the same time as well.

I also setup a passcode, that only I know, to use for digital purchases. You don’t want your enterprising little bugger buying a bunch of stuff on your console.

Just bought a copy of Full Spectrum Warrior for $4 on eBay. Can't wait! :) :) :)

I'd need two hands to count the number of times Teal and I have discussed our No. 1 target for backward compatibility with an original Xbox game: FULL. SPECTRUM. WARRIOR.

Thanks for making our dreams come true, Microsoft! :)
