Why did Sweden continue to park the bus with an extra man in the last 15 minutes? Grow a set!

As John Madden said about the prevent defense in the NFL, "All a prevent defense does is prevent you from winning."

GREAT strike by Kroos. What a fun match to watch.

The tension of win or we're out was all over that game, pretty awesome match.

I could NOT stop saying this during the 2nd half. It was pathetic and I'm glad that the soccer gods doled out the appropriate punishment. Gutless.

A busload of refs in their favor couldn't have helped that ROK team. Nice strike to break the shutout, but they were garbage.

I was screaming at them.

You knew the German winner was coming.

Very true!... but has ZERO to do with what I am talking about.

Im talking about how horrible FIFA is. Not about how horrible Korea was.

That was absolutely a VAR PK and a straight RED CARD on Boateng in the first half. No clue how that didn't get reviewed.

Beginning to wonder if Poland are Scotland in disguise.

Looking forward to Monday’s match between URU and RUS. Let’s see if Russia can neutralize Suarez, I doubt it but should be fun.

I ask the same question of Belgium that I do of England: Who have you played?

When you combine scores and level of opposition, Croatia has impressed me more than any team so far in this tournament.

I am hoping against hope for Portugal to drop the ball today and crash out, if only to see every journalist in the world have to swallow their words about CR7 "elevating his team" etc.

I’ll be rooting for one particular Portuguese. Carlos Queiroz. Hope his team can pull an upset.

The Spanish D has been caught napping a couple of times by the Moroccans who are playing them tough. I thought Pique deserved a red for his strong challenge.

Great bent by Quaresma on the Portugal game.

Ooohh sooo close for Iran. The WC that keeps on giving, #7 missing a PK, a dramatic tie into ET and a missed opportunity for the finish. Having said that I wouldn’t have called that a PK. Did Ronaldo deserve a red? Yellow was the right call.

A lot of drama too in the Morocco-Spain too.

Spain and Portugal failed to impress me so far.

The panel on BT Sport's The Football Writers podcast nailed it today about this World Cup: There is no great team. There is no dominant team. That's why it's been such a compelling tournament, because the form sheet has been ripped up.

I like Croatia too and not just for Rob.

Belgium and England will both have to play someone soon and we will all get our answers wont we?

They can only play the teams on their schedule.

Belgium and England play next too bad the game doesn't really matter.

No, but I called him to write the truth. :D

People that lived there, played and sweated the beautiful game knows that politics and corruption play a big part in Argentina.

I can’t remember any other nation that went thru three different managers to guide thru the WC qualifying process. You don’t know how much I suffered during that process, only to see the final game being decided by Messi’ magic to make it to Russia.

Teams not lending key players, dirty politics, because they are all selfish back home, you just can’t work at peace when AFA doesn’t have the balls to protect and respect a process. You lose one game and they send the spies on you to perform better the next game.

If everything goes to hell today, I wouldn’t be surprised if Messi finally breaks out of his silence and tells it all. But he’s supposed to be God, right? The pressure he’s been feeling is unbelievable. People breathe football there, it’s a national holiday, no soul ventures around the cobble streets of Buenos Aires when the team plays.

Tata Martino was my go to guy three years ago, he now coaches in Atlanta in the MLS.

I wish J. Sampaoli good luck but his selection of players and formations have deeply disappointed me. I have no other choice but to wish him and the team well, even though I am pretty sure 80% of the fans want him out. Doing so, would be part of the corruption that will continue to bring the team down.

There’s been rumors of internal fighting, watching this Argentina team, there’s no soul, no identity, no structure in their play. I hope it all changes today. And it will have to start with Messi.

He’s the captain, the leader, the best player. At times I wished he would take just 10% of the jerkiness and cockiness of Ronaldo and guide this team. But we all know, it’s not in his blood.

And people in Argentina will continue to be hard on him no matter what.

To me Sampaoli, is the one to blame if we we are pointing fingers.

See, the difference between Messi and D. Maradona is that while the national team in those days, didn’t have the quality of riches that this team has experienced in the past four years, Maradona just couldn’t do it himself.

He relied on the hand of God and won it all in 86. Messi needs that edge...and a little prayer from the Pope. 8)

Well it looks like Argentina is finally playing with a purpose/desperation and they have a competent GK guarding the net.

The Hand of God played it's part in that win. I think the ref made the right call since it wasn't deliberate but as the announcers mentioned another player in the group stage wasn't so lucky and got called for a hand ball which was even less debatable. One of the English color commentators was calling for a hand ball. That's another potential PK they avoided.
