Its a Ghost Recon game in name only. Its more like Grand Theft Bolivia.

Lots of jacking of vehicles or helicopters and for lengthy traveling to get to missions and side missions. Cars handle a little worse than GTA.

The combat is somewhat realistic; one shot kills and you do go down fast if you take damage. I was playing on the second of four difficulty levels.

So far I've seen 3 types of side missions. Get intel/interrogate enemy at enemy camp. Steal enemy plane. And hijack convoy. The hijack convoy mission involved ramming a truck until it was disabled. I was able to do that with a helicopter. It was fun, but really is this Ghost Recon?

Graphics are average I'd say for open world on the console. Far Cry 4 looked better. Some enemy camps looked the same, like you've been there before. One building was pure cut and paste from another I'd visited. Only weird visual glitch I noticed was raindrops hitting the ground on puddles causing what looked like mini-white fireworks bursts.

There is an upgrade system (RPG lite) where you trade points acquired from missions and capped supplies for skills and perks, like increased revive speed, extra grenades. damage protection, health regen, improved drone, etc. I liked the drone. :)

Maybe they could overlay some sort hard core mode into multiplayer? That would be the only hope to find a Ghost Recon game here.

I'm still getting it since I like playing open world coop games and there aren't too many like this one where the entire campaign can be played solo or 2-4 players.

I must be their target audience because I'm absolutely head over heels for it. I completed all the beta missions and got all the collectibles and cannot wait for more. By the time I had 4 man sync shots going I was grinning constantly. I usually had a chopper and flew around for insertions but then started parachuting in. Really really REALLY love it.

is it similar to the Division in gameplay? Some solo and then some co-op?

Entire game can be played in Co-op. And similar to the division in animations, but the combat is much different. One bullet kills, fights usually explode and are over in a matter of seconds. The difference is the sheer amount of enemies you encounter when stuff goes down. In The Division, you might have 5 guys with a "boss". In Wildlands you might have 20 guys scattered around, so you can get into deep trouble quickly. I finished everything in the beta on Veteran (difficulty 2 of 4, the default), and then started replaying everything on Ghost on PC (difficulty 4 of 4). On Ghost, guys just see you much quicker, but the combat didn't seem to change much. 1 bullet still killed, so it wasn't like they became bullet sponges. But tactics just seemed to matter more. I ran up (crouched) behind a wall and a guy 15 feet away "heard" me, stuff like that.

Plus the exploration is much, much better. I've passed over towns that just begged to be explored. Go in, and there are supplies to tag and collectibles to find (even a weird one with a ghost town and a pack of dogs. Found a whistle that seemed to hint that you could CONTROL the pack of dogs with it).

And for something like Co-op, my wife is excited. She can hang back and use the drone to spot enemies, and I can do the damage. Everybody can play a role, and since there's no real "offline" and "online" separation, we can play drop-in, drop-out co-op at any time with it.

Pete and Terry pretty much sums up what I have to say about this "Ghost Recon" Wildlands game. In a traditional sense, it is definitely not Ghost Recon, as it is an open world game first and foremost. It plays better than Watch Dogs, the combat is more fun than The Division, and the gameplay is simply pure fun!

Graphically, it's not going to win any awards but it looks very good and the beta only showed us one of the 11 different areas that will be in the game, and that one area was massive! Even a wide variety of detail and lots of elevation changes.

The driving controls can be tightened up a bit but they are definitely not horrible. Flying the planes and helicopters are actually pretty easy and very fun. I plan on traveling a lot through the air in this game. Hijacking a vehicle can be a pain in the ass at times, but so can tagging supplies. That is one thing that needs fixed before the final release next month.

I too played the game on the 2nd lowest difficulty rating (and the beta level we played was only a 1 star difficulty overall) and the AI was very solid and challenging playing on this difficulty. The AI squad was decent, but it can't replace playing with other real people. The enemies would try and flank you, many times one would rush up the stairs in a building or sneak in behind me and kill me.

There was a ton of side missions available, and while I can see them becoming repetitive, I am hoping the different environments that we will open up will offer different strategies. Also, the difficulty could be really challenging in the later levels that you unlock.

The level up system seems very solid. I was able to become a Level 6 player and I beefed up my drone as much as I could. Unlocking different perks looks like it will be lots of fun and will require you to do different missions, as certain perks require so many supplies before it becomes available.

I only had time to only complete about 50% of the beta level, but I am definitely excited to play this game when it launches next month!

If this is the case then i am in. I really like WD2 and the Division so this is great news Ace. Thanks for the impressions. March is going to be great considering GR, MLB 17 The Show and Mass Effect Andromeda are slated to release.

You gentlemen enjoy the beta! I'll be in sunny Arizona swinging the sticks while the open beta is going on, but I'll be ready to play the full game on March 7.

Gonna hafta forego the beta. One thing we haven't adjusted to with the XBO is the amount of downloading involved. We're killing our data limits, so I'll definitely get the full game, but really need to put the kibosh on downloads for a couple weeks...

Data limits? Who's your provider? Afghanistan Online?

Just kidding. I don't know anyone who has capped home Internet service anymore. That's a bummer for gaming, dude!

I do spend close to that per month in the States, I think $60 per month for Spectrum's Ultimate speed package -- 200 MBps down and 20 MBps up. :)

Cable One. They suck, but they're the only game in town out in the sticks here. Never had caps with my last provider. Ah well, kinda want the game to be fresh on release day anyway...

LOL! I hate Cable One, I truly do. Of course, with the 360, the downloads were max 6-8 gigs, and nothing need be downloaded if you had the disk. So I don't even know if my last cable provider had a set limit. But from Christmas until my wife's hair caught on fire at the latest bill, we've been downloading every game that's back compatible that we already owned, the free stuff from EA Access, the new games I've bought, DLC...lol, I saw the charts from end of December til now yesterday, and it was nuts!

At any rate, I'm enjoying SE4 so much right now that I'm not going to worry too much about the open beta (at least that's what I'm telling myself...lol). I'll just be there when the full game arrives, ready to go to war with you clowns... :D

I downloaded both the PC and Xbox. I wish I had Comcast because they are way faster than shitty AT&T. I pay for 50 mbps and get like 21.
