RIP Moses Malone

Post by Diablo25 »

Man, this has been a bad month for Sixers faithful. First Dawk and now Moses. This news shook me up. RIP to one of the greatest centers and certainly greatest pure rebounder in the history of the sport. RIP

Didn't grow up in St. Louis with an NBA team but we had the ABA St. Louis Spirits for a couple of years and Malone played a season here. When the league folded I became became a fan of the 76ers, probably a combo of Dr. J and those Red, white and Blue uni's and then of course Malone ended up there a few years later. Loved watching them in the early to mid 80's. Very sad to hear this.

RIP Moses Malone

I grew up in Western PA. Pittsburgh did not have a team so I picked the Sixers as I wasn't about to pick Cleveland and my friends all liked the Celtics and Lakers. I still remember picking up the paper and reading that the Sixers had signed Moses Malone. I couldn't believe it! I've been fortunate to experience many of my favorite teams winning titles but that 82-83 Sixers team will always be one of my favorite teams. Moses was such a great player and as a C/PF I remember trying to emulate him as a youth and even to this day when I'm fortunate enough to get on the court. RIP.

This is a total bummer. One of the greatest centers of all time and a true character.
