Forza 6

Post by DChaps »

Well I am really behind on E3 news and just about everything related to gaming and racing sims, but our old friend Brian Ekberg of Turn 10 has several really good previews available. Follow the links to read the details, but I have highlighted some of the more intriguing aspects of the Forza 6 features below. With the debacle that has been Project Cars on the Xbox One, I am looking forward to Forza even more now.
Forza Motorsport 6 Features:
http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/ne ... 3_features

-Forza Motorsport 6 will feature more than 450 ForzaVista cars.

-The game will feature 24-cars on track – online or offline

-Night and rain racing are finally coming to a Forza Motorsport game on Xbox One and you’ve never seen anything like it.

-It’s more than visuals however – for example, at night the tarmac cools down, reducing overall grip, which means that racing at night requires a different skillset than racing in the day.

-10 newly built and captured tracks. Here at E3 we’re announcing 5 new environments: Rio de Janeiro, Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen, and Brands Hatch.

-In addition, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was recaptured and has been rebuilt after extensive track renovations in 2014.

-26 world-famous locales (including each and every track from Forza Motorsport 5)

-60 frames per second at 1080p resolution

-In Forza Motorsport 6, in addition to your Drivatar information that will be waiting for you in the game, you’ll be able to port all of your tunes and liveries from both Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Horizon 2 into Forza Motorsport 6. That means you’ll have a huge head start on getting your cars the way you want them once it’s time to hit the track in Forza 6.

-New Career Mode - “Stories of Motorsport” is told in multiple volumes, with each volume being a comprehensive career experience that lets the player travel the world and celebrate the past and present of automotive history. Volumes are further subdivided into series where players can choose precisely the types of cars they want to drive.

-Look for more information on our brand new Forza Racing Leagues later in the summer.

Forza Motorsport 6 Loyalty Rewards:
http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/ne ... ty_rewards

-In Forza Motorsport 6, you will receive a free car added to your garage for each Forza Rewards Tier you’ve achieved. Note that these rewards are cumulative, so a Tier 3 player will earn the Tier 2 reward and the Tier 3 reward. The Tier 8 player (yes, we’re adding more Tiers to Forza Rewards with the launch of Forza Motorsport 6 – more details on that later in the summer) will earn all prior Tier Reward cars.

-For each game with 300 or more cars in your garage, you’ll receive 5,000,000 in-game credits.

-That’s as many as 25,000,000 in-game credits to start your Forza Motorsport 6 career!

-I wanted to clear up a few misconceptions we’ve seen in the forums about this Rewards system for Forza 6. First of all, the Tier Level Reward cars are not exclusive to the Tiers. In other words, you can still earn that 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 (Tier 6 reward) in the game, even if you aren’t a Tier 6 who will get the car for free. Our Loyalty Rewards system is designed to give our most active players access to awesome cars early – but these cars won’t be walled off from the rest of the community.

Pre-Order Forza Motorsport 6!

Forza Motorsport 6 Ultimate Edition
The Forza Motorsport 6 Ultimate Edition includes Forza Motorsport 6, VIP membership, the Forza Motorsport Car Pass, the first Forza Motorsport DLC Car Pack (available on launch day), and the Ten Year Anniversary Car Pack, which features 10 specially tuned and liveried cars, including the 2008 Aston Martin DBS, the 2014 Lamborghini Hurácan and the 2013 McLaren P1™. Ultimate Edition owners will also be granted early access to play Forza Motorsport 6 before 9/15/2015

This game will be a monster, for two reasons. One, Turn 10 produces superb driving games. Two, it will be released as a finished product, unlike Project Cars.

It's amazing how Turn 10 has dropped my interest in the Gran Turismo series.

Forza Rewards Updates
By now, many of you are probably familiar with Forza Rewards – the Forza loyalty program that rewards players with in-game gifts for playing Forza games. Back at E3 2015, we let you know that Forza Rewards would be changing ahead of the launch of Forza Motorsport 6. In addition to adding new Tier levels, we’re also making it easier to achieve the current Tiers, as well as increasing the frequency of payouts for the month of August. Here, we’ll break down how the new Forza Rewards system will work going forward.

New Tiers
Forza Rewards divides players into Tier Levels. Players earn Forza Rewards points, and thus increase their Tier level, by playing Forza games on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Currently the highest Forza Rewards Tier players can reach is Tier 7, which requires 8,500 Forza Rewards points. The current maximum amount of points is 12,000, which includes points scored in games as far back as Forza Motorsport 2 and up to the recent Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious standalone expansion.

When the new Forza Rewards system goes live today, we will be adding two new tiers to Forza Rewards – Tier 8 and Tier 9. Tier 8 will begin at 10,000 Forza Rewards points and Tier 9 will start at 12,500 points. This means that a percentage of Tier 7 players (those who have 10,000+ points) will immediately become Tier 8 with the new system. Incidentally, no players will be able to reach Tier 9 until Forza Motorsport 6 launches.

Weekly Payouts in August
For the month of August, we’re making some important changes to Rewards payouts. The biggest news is that, for at least the month of August, Forza Rewards payouts will move to a weekly cadence. New rewards will be made available every Friday, beginning on July 31 (yes, we’re starting a day early!) As always these Rewards will be available either on the Forza Rewards section of FM.net or on the Forza Hub app on Xbox One.

To celebrate our new rewards cadence, we’re doubling the total credit rewards available in the month of August! For example, a player who would have earned 100,000 credits per game in July will now earn 200,000 credits per game in August, with the total credits amount divided among weekly payments. Please note that these rewards will expire each week, so make sure you come back to Forza Hub every Friday to check in on the latest Forza community news and claim your weekly credits!

Loyalty Rewards
All of these points totals and Tier levels have tangible results for Forza fans. Forza Rewards is the best way to make sure you get the most free stuff ahead of the launch of Forza Motorsport 6. We’re giving away free cars in Forza 6 based on your Forza Rewards Tier level. Here’s a breakdown:

· Tier 2: 2015 BMW M235i
· Tier 3: 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition
· Tier 4: 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
· Tier 5: 2014 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
· Tier 6: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
· Tier 7: 2014 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 458 Italia GTLM
· Tier 8: 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro

A great example of the new system in action is the jump from Tier 7 to Tier 8. When we click over the new system, players who have more than 10,000 Forza Rewards points (previously Tier 7) will automatically upgrade to Tier 8, making them immediately eligible for the Tier 8 loyalty reward in Forza Motorsport 6 (the 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro).

Regardless of your current Tier level, there’s still time to make the most of your Forza Motorsport 6 experience with Forza Rewards. The more Forza you play now, the more you have a chance to earn once Forza 6 launches in September. So why not fire up some Forza and earn your way to a new Tier level today?

If you have not been following the Forza Motorsport 6 news, lots of new stuff coming out of Gamescom 2015, including the final new tracks list, online league details, and a nice video on the wet weather effects. Turn 10 has been releasing weekly updates (see links below) and there have been some cool new cars announced for Forza 6 as well. After the disappointment of Project Cars, I am really looking forward to Forza 6.

Final New Tracks List for Forza 6:
-Brands Hatch
-Lime Rock Park
-Sonoma Raceway
-Hockenheimring
-Monza
-Circuit of the Americas
-Daytona
-Watkins Glen
*Indianapolis(recaptured and rebuilt)

Online Leagues

This week, we’re showing off competitive multiplayer Leagues for the first time at Gamescom. If you love online racing, this new Leagues feature was built for you. Leagues are a brand new multiplayer feature for Forza 6, one that lets players compete in thrilling multiplayer races that are scheduled and based around each player’s skill level and temperament.

The cornerstones of Leagues are its scheduled race lobbies. All League lobbies run on a schedule and will be open in the game during specific times each day. For example, there might be a B-Class League lobby that will be open for four hours per day for a full week; after which, it will be replaced with a new League lobby featuring different cars and/or tracks. While a League’s daily open window may vary from League to League, we are designing these windows to be open to allow the most players within different time zones.

During an open window, players can join a League Lobby and compete against one another in that lobby’s playlist. After each race, players will earn points based on their performance (what position they placed in, as well as the number of higher-skilled players they beat). As long as a League window is open, players can continue to play in that lobby and earn points; these points will accumulate on that League’s leaderboard for the duration of the League. Once a scheduled League has closed down, players will earn credits based on their final position on the League’s overall leaderboard.

Our goal with League racing is to have players always have multiplayer matches that are geared to their skill. To do that, we are organizing players into different skill-based Driver Divisions. All players will begin at the lowest division when they first start playing in Leagues and more skilled players will quickly move up into their appropriate divisions. Each time a player races, we recalculate his or her skill level by comparing how that player finishes among the other players in a race. The more races you win or place highly in, the better the chance you’ll move up to a new League division. Once a League begins, players will remain in that league until the League has completed. When the new set of Leagues is set, each player’s Driver Division will be reviewed and players will potentially be reclassified based on their current skill level. In addition to skill level, League players will be organized by their temperament levels, which will ensure that clean drivers will be paired with other clean drivers, while players who tend to enjoy more contact will be racing with similar style opponents.

Driver Division will also control which League events players have access to. A newer, less skilled driver won’t be able to see or have access to the same League events available to elite-skill players. This allows us to create race events that fit for different players, tailoring the cars and tracks to the most appropriate skill levels.

For Forza Motorsport 6, Online Leagues represent a fantastic opportunity for players to get the best multiplayer racing experience on a consistent basis. In addition to a regular cadence of updated Race Leagues, we’ll also be creating special events that will give players of all skill levels the chance to compete. Whether it’s with one-off series tied to real-world race weekends or invite-only events featuring the best racers in the world, Online Leagues promises to be an incredibly exciting, and always changing, new feature in the game.

BTCC and WTCC Cars
Two BTCC race cars highlight this week’s update to the Forza Garage. First up we’ve got the 2014 Audi #67 Rotek Racing S3 Saloon, driven by Robb Holland, who was the first American driver to compete in a full BTCC season. The Rotek is joined by the 2014 Toyota #80 Speedworks Motorsport Avensis, created by the husband-and-wife team of Christian and Amy Dick. In addition to those two cars, we also added a number of additional BTCC and WTCC cars, including the 2014 Honda #2 Castrol Honda Civic WTCC, 2014 Honda #5 Zengo Motorsport Civic WTCC, 2014 Toyota #20 United Autosports Avensis, and the 2014 Toyota #11 Handy Motorsport Avensis.

Forza Rewards Reminder

Don't forget to go get your weekly Forza Rewards every Friday until the end of the month!
Last week we updated our Forza Rewards to include, among other things, a new weekly cadence for Rewards payouts during the month of August. Well, it’s Friday, which means that this week’s payout is now live on Forza Hub. Head to the Forza Hub app or http://rewards.forzamotorsport.net to claim your rewards and be sure to do the same each Friday in August to make sure you collect all the credits you have coming to you this month.

All the cars have now been announced which includes so many awesome new race cars to the Forza series that I managed to miss some. All manufacturers from the V8 Supercars will be represented, as well as the full Formula E series. Likewise, there are many 2015 Indycars. I also found these hidden gems. There is the makings for a late 60's/early 70's Can-Am series in here. Definitely worth checking out all the Forza Garage articles as well.

Be sure to play the demo since you get the new Ford GT gifted to your garage if you give it a try.

I decided to go digital with this one since there's little chance I'll trade it in. The Ultimate edition even gives you early access to the game, which helped push me over the edge.

Really excited that they added more true racecars this time, some of the older sportscars should be a lot of fun to drive.

Yes sorry, I should have been more specific. Some of these awesome cars were hidden away in the weekly garage updates with no fan fare or screenshots. In those cases (Eagle, Lotus, Lola), I just provided photos of the real cars. The ones with the Forza 6 watermarks are from the game. Yep, that is Dan Gurney in his Eagle, I think celebrating the 35th anniversary of his 1967 Spa win back in 2002, which is why the photo is so detailed. Love that car.

You're probably right, Adam. Probably a photo. Otherwise would be watermarked with Forza logo.

Could not agree more about the Weslake. That and Chapman's Lotus 49 are gorgeous.

Yep, gorgeous, and they look like proper racing cars too. So does the 'Batmobile' BMW. The BMW I most recently saw live at a race track was a BTCC-spec 1 Series with a lousy spoiler on the back of it, which is neither gorgeous nor a proper racing car...

I'm looking forward to seeing how Brands and Lime Rock turn out in Forza 6 as part of a pretty strong track list, but I wish Turn 10 would consider bringing back some of the older fictional tracks, especially Maple Valley. That had a couple of really fun layouts and the autumnal colours would look terrific on an XB1.
