Great win for the Flyers without three top dmen (Kimmo, Coburn, MacDonald). The Corsi numbers were terrible, but I'll take it.

Nice win tonight for the Blues against the Blackhawks. Crowd had to be about 30 percent 'Hawks fans. Love watching Schwartz. Kid has tons of energy.

Typical two on zero short handed goal last night in the Habs win over the rangers.

Both Kreider and J. Moore should and will be suspended after their cheap shots vs Minny. In the case of Moore, he did something similar during the playoffs against D. Weise with his flying elbow. He should be gone for six.

Thinking tonight of Gordie Howe, who suffered a serious stroke today. Mr. Hockey is perhaps my favorite athlete ever.

Yeah, doesn't sound good at all. A class act, wishing him the best.

Meeting him a few years back was a thrill.

His pic is hanging at the entrance to this room.

Prayers are with you Gordie.

It is obvious in this early season that teams like BUF & CAR have nothing to play for, but for Connor McDavid.

A quiet night in the NHL but these two teams played an entertaining affair in NY which eventually ended up in a SO decided by the author of this beauty earlier in the game.

I am sold on this kid. Starred in KHL, and now making it happen in the NHL. Player of the week last week with 5 goals, and this beauty tonight.

It was a great finish by Tank but that was just shoddy defense there by Kostka and McILrath. I don't know what Kostka was doing there at blueline! Not that I don't want to be a homer for my Blues but the Rangers were missing some key dmen last night.
Blues are playing well though and we haven't been healthy all year...haven't even iced what is supposed to be our main lineup for a game yet. Biggest mistake the Blues have made so far was sending Robby Fabbri back to junior.

One of the key acquisitions for the 'Nucks, Ryan Miller is making a big difference in this young season for VAN as the team starts a tough CA trip that many Canucks fans think will be the tonic as to where the team really stands. Good win in SJ tonight, after being under sieged the first 10 minutes of the game. Nick Bonino is making everyone say Kesler who, and Verbata is the perfect triplet for the Sedins.

Coach W. Desjardins is the exact opposite of fiery J. Tortorella and so far this team is responding and playing well.

Who the hell Tarasenko think he is after he scored that beauty last week? He's at it again.

Flyers just keep getting hit with injuries...and mainly on defense where they are already thin. Luke Schenn out for two weeks after getting boarded the other night. Also, highly touted defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere tore his ACL the other night at Lehigh Valley (AHL). Damnit.

The Blue Jackets' star D man Jack Johnson is bankrupt despite earning eight figures so far in his NHL career. He was ripped off blind by ... HIS PARENTS.

Sad, stunning story. The worst kind of hockey parents imaginable.

Lindros and LeClair go into Flyers HOF tonight. Great ceremony. STUD players. Hopefully it lights a fire under the Flyers ass because they played like s*** in NY.

Yeah, I heard Ron the hacker Hextall was an embarrassment criticizing the players for their poor effort last night.

At the game currently between Canucks and Ducks in the return of Ryan Kesler in Van City. Lots of boos for number 17 but the best team in the west is up 2-0 after one. He may have the best laugh in the end.

Hamhuis was lost early in the game, a solid D that the Nucks will miss for sure.

Kesler has been possessed so far in a Ducks Uni, really played well in the 2 games against the Kings.

Fixed that for you.

Yeah well, that may NOT be the case even before the regular season based on what I saw yesterday. Canucks were playing back to back games and from 0-2 they played perhaps the best 2nd period of the year when they just manhandled the Ducks and went ahead 3-2. The early injury to Hamhuis (looks like he's going to be gone for awhile) seem to suck the air out of them but this version of VAN is much more resilient and pleasant to the eye to watch than last year. D. Sedin should have put the game away with an open netter in OT and once you're in a SO it's anyone's game.

But the Ducks are deep and it's good to know that Canucks can handle them so far, something we could not say last season against any of the CA teams.

I had the pleasure to know him back in 1994 when he took the Canucks all the way to one of the best SC finals ever. He was loyal and supportive of his players to a fault. A great coach in his days, won a gold medal with team Canada in Salt Lake City, and definitely made every team that he coached a better franchise. He drafted two of the most popular players here in T. Linden and Pavel Bure. Won the Jack Adams a couple of times.

Gone at a young 71.

RIP Pat Quinn.
