Re: EA Access
Could be. I definitely assumed they would wait longer to put it in The Vault.
On the other hand, if they are confidant in the base gameplay of the game, this is a great way to expose a more gamers to it. It's a lot easier to excuse the features that are missing when you get for "free." I think the gameplay and detailed courses are fantastic. The cruddy career mode, lack of social features, and pathetic customizations really preven this from being a solid title.
Hopefully they will release a great game next spring, but it won't surprise me if they move on.

Re: EA Access
Good, I stopped playing a couple of months ago. EA has really destroyed their Golf franchise. So much for RM being a "non-yearly" release.....I'm pretty much done with EA Sports and their Golf franchise. Pretty obvious they are done with it too.sportdan30 wrote:Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be in the vault next week.

Re: EA Access
Kind of hard to produce a game that is not bringing in revenue. I can only assume all the free updates (was there any paid DLC?) and then this going into the Vault already with their 2 year plan is not a good sign. Good news for me is I'll play it now.Aristo wrote: On the other hand, if they are confidant in the base gameplay of the game, this is a great way to expose a more gamers to it. Re: EA Access
I guess 700K copies was not enough to keep going.

How does that compare to past sales, when the series was at its high point?DivotMaker wrote:I guess 700K copies was not enough to keep going.

Re: EA Access
Less than half and 40K less than TW14. What did they expect with such a half assed effort?
Re: EA Access
I agree, if they are really pulling the plug on poor sales due to this game. The reality is, it was more like a $20 release, feature wise. But the base of the game is still something that can be built upon. One issue they have is the willingness of gamers to view the quantity of user made douses in TGC as more valuable than the quality of the licensed courses in RMPGAT. I don't need a hundred courses, and I love the details in the licensed courses.
EA did need to release more than the few courses they did, but I'm happy with what they have now with all of the updates. If they releases a new game with the features that were missing, the courses that are in now, and then add another 8-12 courses, I think they would have a popular game once again.
But EA may decide that the cost of licensing is not worth the hassle if gamers are content with what TGC delivers. Personally, I would scrap the PGA license and just focus on golf courses. I really don't care if I'm competing against real golfer or not, and I don't mind using generic guys that represent different skill sets instead of stars. Basically, go the Links route in terms of licensing. I'm not sure how much that saves, but if half-assing the career mode is what we get, why bother? Pull a PGA 2000, use generic golfers, and just create a season out of what you have.
Mainly, I want Country Clubs back. Let us schedule tourneys and seasons for ourselves. No one cares if they win a tourney against random Scores. Let me compete against friends.
And if I play a course, let me upload my ghost, along with the conditions I played with, and tgen friends can try to beat my score with the same settings. And I can search for uploads of my friends to play. This was a big part of what I liked in Powerstar Golf. Even playing in an online tourney on RM feels like a lonely experience.

Re: EA Access
Even though I haven't played much of Rory golf, it will be sad if EA stops making a golf game. I do like competition. The Golf Club is a very solid game and Powerstar Golf is very fun to play and arguably has better gameplay than Rory does.
Golf is one of those tricky games to translate to the videogame world. Alot of people would like a simulation golf game but also one that is fun to play. Powerstar is fun, The Gold Club is more simulated. If you could marry those two games, I think you have the perfect golf videogame.

The Gold Club was WAAAAAY more fun than any golf video game. You had to live in Atlanta tho.AcemanPR wrote:Golf is one of those tricky games to translate to the videogame world. Re: EA Access
EA Access members can grab Battlefield Hardline Premium as well as Battlefield 4 Premium. Premium is the season pass for either game, and nets you access to all DLC.

Re: EA Access
Very cool news about Rory coming to Access.
Wonder what game is next? Is NBA Live 16 is so horrific that EA is embarrassed to release it to Access, even during the increased interest of the NBA Playoffs?

Re: EA Access
EA Access continues to be the best value in gaming. I think it's the strongest Xbox One system-seller -- even more compelling than ANY exclusive title. The amount of content available in Access for just $30 per year is staggering.

There is like an 85 page thread on here with all the answers. However since it is now "free" nothing is wrong with it.fsquid wrote:what was the issue with Rory? Just an incomplete game?

As far as I know it renews automatically and I actually don't see a way how to cancel it. Not that I want to.XXXIV wrote:Everyone should have this.

Re: EA Access
I've had to do it a bunch. You have to go into your Live Account, into transactions, find subscriptions, and cancel it.
I have 3 extra live accounts that I use when Madden launches to get a lot more time with the game before launch, and then have to cancel those one-month subscriptions each time. It's stupid that they force you to do it from the web, but how many people just don't do it because it's too much work? Easy racket for them.
