With the Chargers and Aztecs posting big wins today, it still is a sad one here in San Diego.
I am not sure how many here know about the Colonel but another of our golden generation has left us.
Jerry Coleman was a longtime Padre announcer (33 years), Manager (1 year) and World Series winner with the Yanks (played 2B for them)
He also flew many combat missions in Korea (hence the Colonel).
He wasn't the greatest announcer IMO (I grew up with Vin Scully), but what a great American!!!
R.I.P. Jerry and "You can hang on star" on your life.

How sad and sudden. What can you say about someone who has become such a legend in this community? He'll be sorely missed.

"Oh Doctor"
The Colonel was the only ball player to see battle in two wars, a true hero. What a life! Hang a star on him. Godspeed Jerry.
