I know you are heavy into your racing games. I was wondering what wheel you recommend for your PC and console racing games. Thanks bro.

Well, pretty much the standard wheel on the PS2 is the Logitech Driving Force. IT also works on the PC.

Steve:

Odd as it may sound, I don´t use a wheel for my console racing games. And I don´t play PC games except for Championship Manager.

I have read many good things about the Logitech wheel for the PS2. Not sure about PC wheels at all.

I guess I´ve always preferred spending $50 on a new game instead of a wheel. I tried nearly every wheel for the PSX and didn´t care for any of them. Too many issues with size, comfort, setup, etc., for me.

Hope all is well, dude! OS looks great, as always.

Steve,

For PC I still enjoy my Microsoft Force Feedback. I have had it now for 2 years without a single problem. And trust me Ive put it through a ton of abuse. Some people dont like the pedals but they are fine for me. They have released a second version of the wheel since mine but relatively no changes.

Friend of mine has a Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP wheel. I helped him get it setup with XP (lots of problems with setup) and it works fine, but it doesnt feel as solid as Microsoft´s nor do I like the pedals at all. I have a size 14 foot so the smaller pedals (felt a lot weaker too) wouldnt put up with the abuse of my feet for long.

As for console wheels I still havent broke down and decided to get one. I just dont see the need yet for a wheel with a console. Any game that I need to slide in (WoO) I have better luck with the analog vs a wheel. Thunder was the closest one to wanting me to get a wheel but thats as far as I got, was just to think more about it I found using the analogs a little more delicately would let it feel more like a wheel.

Hope this helps.

Gran Turismo 3 actually works better with the Dual Shock II controller than it does with the Logitech wheel. The Driving Force wheel works GREAT in NFS:HP2 though. Also, it´s the only way to enjoy playing Ferrari F355.

Where´s Randy for this thread? He´s got quite a few wheels (I think) and has some preferences....let´s see if we can get him to scurry out for this post...

I have the Logitech Force GP, which is marketed for the PC, but works with the PS2, as well. I like it and find that I actually do better at GT3 with it than the Dual Shock, but I´m abnormally lousy at driving with the Dual Shock. I´ve seen others use the Dual Shock quite capably with GT3. I definitely do better at NASCAR Thunder 2002 with the GP vs. the Dual Shock. Where the GP wheel really shines for me on the PS2 is WoO Spring Car Racing. I can´t imagine being competitive without it.

OTOH, the GP really feels cheap. I bought it to double as a PC wheel for my second PC when we want to do in-house LAN racing. The shifter buttons are too small for my tastes. I´d recommend the Driving Force if it has paddles (which I now believe it has). My main system has an older Logitech Wingman Formula Force. It has the paddle shifters. This baby has been a real work horse, but I´ve got my heart set on a Logitech MOMO, which is also fully compatible with the PS2.
