Anybody else interested in NFL Street?

Post by ScoopBrady »

Just got done reading the IGN hands on for Street and I must say I´m pretty excited about this game now. Seems like there´s a lot of depth and fun to be had. Anyone else have this on their radar?

I don´t know if I would use the word excited to describe my feelings but I will be getting the game.

Already ordered from the EA website when the stackable cupons were working. I got it for 24.99 for the pS2.

If it plays anything like NBA STreet then I know I will like it.

Do those stackable coupons still work?

I didn´t realize they had unreleased games available for order yet.

I will probably try it out but kind of burned out on football games. Had NCAA and still have Madden and ESPN. Although I like football games more than other sports game, it really has to offer something different for me to stay with it.

Rob,

How old is your son? I am assuming that Street will be more "pick up and play," with less football knowledge and strategy required? If so, that would open up the game to younger players, assuming it´s rated "E."

It´s definitely easier to pick up and play than say ESPN or Madden, however make no mistake the game is still all about football. Just with less rules.

It´s similar to NBA Street but I´ve always felt that it plays quite a bit different as well. In NBA, you can do moves over and over and over regardless of what´s going on, and continue to build towards your GameBreaker. In NFL, you´re not rewarded for just running around the field doing Stlye moves. They have to be successful when you attempt them, not to mention there are other ´limitations´ of sorts that keep you ´playing´ the game (E.g. Don´t bother running behind the line of scrimmage while Stylin´... It´ll get you nowhere).

That being said, it still has the GBs, but you can turn those off and CPU Assist to get a more sim-like experience. I say more sim-like but I certainly don´t think it´s anywhere near a sim.

Some other stuff that really separates NFL Street and other football games, as well as NBA, include the iron-man approach to football and the fields. Different size fields really make a difference as to what type of team you select, as do the fields themselves. The first time you ´slip´ in the mud because you tried to juke with your linemen will certainly make you pay more attention in a hurry

Ribbit, Cinci, thanks for the info! My son´s 7, and he does alright at Fever (even plays his own season), but obviously NFL strategy is beyond him at his young age. I might have to take a look at NFL Street. Maybe there will be an OXM demo disk with it, so we can try it out...

My son just turned 10 and his Madden plays consist of sweep left or right and drop back ten steps and throw.

He has fun, though, so I guess it is fine.

LOL, Pete, my son doesn´t have that kind of patience! No matter what the route, he takes about 1 or 2 steps and lets it fly! That works okay on Rookie level, but he struggles on Veteran...
