Agree. I'm not into sci-fi. I'm not into third-person perspective. But something just clicked for me with X-COM on the 360. Really enjoyable.

So bummed this is PC/Mac only. I am hoping it might run on my wife's MacBook, but I would kill for this on a console again.
Haha...games running on MacBooks, lol.

I'm so pissed I bought the high end 13" Retina Pro...thing is a dog for gaming. I mean obviously because it's not meant for it, but at least play some games competently for 1700 bucks. Guess not. At least I can play OOTPB, Hot Line Miami and Prison Architect. LOL.

Looking forward to some XCom 2 even though I didn't play nearly enough of the first.

Really looking forward to X-COM 2, but haven't had a PC in a week and a half. Not sure when that'll change.

Maybe some day I'll be able to play it!

I'm trading in a couple of games tomorrow at Best Buy and have a $20 reward certificate.. so I'll get the boxed version from BB and spend about $18 for it. :)

I read the review on Kotaku and I am even more bummed this is PC only. The improvements sound awesome.

It's really, REALLY HARD.

The whole narrative flip[ to being the resistance and everything you have to manage and the calls you have to make. It's just consumed my every free minute. Playing on normal is kicking my ass, I just heard the guy on Giant bomb say he had to go down to easy so he could review it.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now backward-compatible and free in the second half of June. Amazing testament to this game that I probably dumped 60-70 hours into it and am very excited to get it back.

Now if only they would port the sequel to consoles....

My XCOM crack addiction has returned. Like Dan said last year about the PC version, this game is SOOOO good. The AI is much sharper and more tactical, and the game feels hard usually because the enemy is making sound choices instead of just being buffed on harder levels. If you liked the first one and didn't play it on the PC, it is a fantastic purchase.

Funny you bumped this thread Brando. I was looking for some game to replay (or finish) this weekend now that my health is better. I picked back up Witcher 3 but I can only stomach it for 90 minutes at a time. So much to do it feels endless, so I decided to play this again on the hardcore difficulty. Let's just say not going so well.

I really love it. I'm playing Commander level Ironman, and it's really challenging now that the enemies are so much smarter about flanking and positioning. The time-based bomb-disposal missions were my least favorite in Enemy Unknown, but the use of time-based missions here is great and makes a lot of sense.

The destructible cover and structures also add a lot to the game. I had a VIP mission where I was hurrying to get my freed prisoner to the extraction zone, and moved my VIP to the second floor of a building when we got jumped on the first floor. In the process of using a grenade to kill one of the enemy, I accidentally destroyed the celling, causing my VIP to fall and take 2 damage, and also made him catch on fire! Luckily I got him to the extraction zone before he burned to death, but those are the kind of variables that I could see keeping this game fresh for a long time.
