Damn, it looks like Ubisoft pulled the design for the base right from the screen of "Restrepo," the incredible National Geographic documentary about the war in Afghanistan.

Game looks mighty cool.

If the game is half as good as the documentary then we are in for a treat. It was fantastic.

Holy crap, is it real? Will it finally be back? Needless to say I'm very much anticipating this MP game. I sure hope we get lots of full game nights going with this one.

Hellz yeah! But one thing is SO odd - both of those reviews say it's the first times we've seen Spies vs. Mercs since 2005's Chaos Theory. Ummmm...WRONG. :(

Yeah, that was totally weird. Maybe it's because DA was such a fustercluck everywhere BUT SVM...lol

LOVE it. At least the SP thus far. Have only completed one mission, and attempted one of the optional missions solo. Whew. Won't be doing that again! Those co-op missions don't seem to dial down an inch for one person, but they're fun as hell.

This is the best of Chaos Theory and Conviction in one (so far) awesome package. The game richly rewards stealth, but allows for the 'mark and execute' feature of Conviction if you so choose. There are three ways to tackle the campaign, and each way is rewarded if you play completely that way: Ghost (complete non-lethal stealth), Panther (lethal stealth), and Assault (no stealth, all lethal). I can't imagine why anyone would intentionally go full auto in a game like this, but whatever floats your boat.

The game also rewards exploration, finding alternate, quieter routes, and all that rewarding can be spent on upgrades to the plane, your suit, new gadgets, and weapons. And the plane upgrades DO make a difference; you upgrade your tech-nerd's workspace, and he'll push out more inventive tech for you; upgrade central computer, and more optional targets of opportunity open up within missions. The first mission took me more than an hour, too, which is good, old school Splinter Cell. I don't even mind that I'm not hearing Michael Ironside... :(

Can't wait to jump into Spies v Mercs!

I don't miss Ironside at all. The new guy sounds close enough to him that I didn't really think about it through the whole first mission, really.

Agree, Terry. The new dude is great. Honestly, I don't know if Ironside would be all that believable in this game.

How do you start a multiplayer session in this game? It goes straight to the single player campaign. No menu or anything. I'm obviously missing something.

After you get through the first mission and get in the paladin, you can select svm on the map.
