Master and Commander...yeah or nay?

Saw it a couple of weeks ago and found it to be quite disapointing. The movie was extremely slow moving and the action was far and few between. Definitely not what I expected but yet it´s supposed to win all sorts of awards. I guess it just wasn´t my cup of tea. Thoughts??

Loved it. Pretty faithful to the book (though it was an amalgam of at least two of Patrick O´Brian´s novels), especially in the relationship between Aubrey (Russel Crowe) and Maturin (not sure of the actor who played him).
 
 I understand there wasn´t as much action as one might expect but I found the characterizations fairly compelling and Crowe´s nailing of Jack Aubrey´s childlike enthusiasm for his post was dead-on.
 
 I wish they´d make a sequel as there are tons of great stories just waiting to be lifted from the O´Brian series, but I´m not sure the movie made enough $$$ to justify another in a series.

Absoutely loved that movie because it was more slow moving than expected. It wasn´t an action movie. Beats the hell out of Gladiator that´s for sure.

I know nothing of the movie or the book, but I did see Pirates of the Carribean. Is this much different?

I thought it was fantastic, but I also happen to be a big fan of Gladiator (not that the two are related by more than the presence of Crowe).

It was the best movie I have seen this year.

Grog...Kill Bill was interesting to say the least...but damn...the blood was a parody of itself...it had to be the bloodiest movie I have ever seen....
 
 Not my kind of movie...I am a ***** when it comes to that stuff.

 Good to see some love for Kill Bill. I haven´t enjoyed myself at the theatre like I did for that movie in a long time. Too goofy and light on dialogue for an Oscar type film, but a damn fun flick.

 Exactly Pigpen, I loved it. Naples, I really do hope it gets some consideration.
