Post by dbdynsty25 »

So...to start this season's college football thread...we bring you this news. A playoff is likely. About damn time!

Unfortunately...it doesn't start until 2014. :(

That's good, though, it gives us plenty of time to not care.

Discussions with the top conferences AND Notre Dame??? Seems about ti e for ND to get the toss from the "important" talks about CFB. The glory days are past - they wield too much power and respect for a mediocre program. ND either join a conference or lose the chip on your shoulder; you just aren't that good.

I wholeheartedly agree. ND shouldn't be in the discussion if they're gonna keep this up.

1. I have always been one of the few that hates the idea of a playoff - I could live with an and one system.

2. Agree about ND.

3. I am looking forward to this game but am somewhat scared at the same time. Not sure what to expect, Georgia's weakness on the D side of the ball will be the corners (we are moving our best WR from last year to corner this year - Malcom Mitchell. Since the game will be Mizz's first in the SEC - I expect the crowd to be a little nuts. Georgia's line is the weakness on the O side of the wall. Hope we can get a running game going early to take the pressure off the line there and open up the play-action. I was planning on going to the game, but my conservative mentality and owning two homes has made me decide not to at the moment. Now if I can sell my house in Huntsville / Madison by then, I might be making a trip to the mid-west in Sept.

No college program and its fans inhale the laughing gas of the past like Notre Dame. The Irish should wield no more power in the discussion of a playoff than any other team.

Notre Dame is still big to TV because they deliver an affluent fan base to advertising.

I'm excited, I agree.. should be a crazy game.. I think I'm going to the Alabama game, even though I'm not sure will will fair well.

Going to tough playing NCAA 13 this year, that's for sure!

It's so refreshing to watch a Miami team WITHOUT Jacory Harris blowing games for them.

Take UM and the points (believe it's 12)...they will cover no problem.

Go Blue!

Not the best start ( to say the least at 14-0) but it is be well early.

EDIT: Well those 12 points are not looking near enough at 31-0. That SEC is a monster.

Same here.

That game was a bummer of a way to start real football.

Was a typical UM out of conference game against a ranked opponent.

TJ Yeldon looks like he has the potential to be a real special player. I thought it was a great weekend of College football, lots of good games, glad to have it back.

Crazy game yesterday in the Dome. Syracuse fell behind, 35-13, to Northwestern in the third quarter and rallied to take a 41-35 lead in the fourth. Then NW scored in the final minute to win, 42-41.

Glad I was there to see it even though the home team lost. Memorable game. Syracuse showed plenty of stones to rally, but penalties and shoddy special teams sabotaged the Orange.

Very cool that you went Paul. I have been to couple of very freaky NU games myself.

Great live sports day for me. Attended SU-Northwestern at the Dome in the afternoon, and an HBO Boxing After Dark card with buddies at an area casino at night. See the boxing thread for a pic. :)

You guys played pretty well and I was worried about this game for months. I knew half of our defense would be out and our OL is really young at this point (not to mention 2 of our RBs are true freshman)..... I didn't go, but it appeared to be a great atmosphere. I also heard from many UGA fans, your fans were very nice and friendly.

Franklin is pretty good but in the end, I think our D wore him down. Jarvis Jones ended up taking over the game. He is Georgia's best defensive player since David Pollack. Jarvis was just named defensive player of the week..... and the scary part is, he is only a junior!!! He might be the only player ever for UGA in which I would get made if he came back for his Sr season. He had some injury problems at USC before transferring to UGA... and I want him to get paid. Madison looked good for you guys as well. I think Theus was blocking him (or trying to).

Good luck the rest of the way. It doesn't get any easier..

Georgia could run the table this year.. I don't think they play Bama or LSU this year do they?

The game was great until the 4th quarter :) Our defense looked great, but Georgia's looked better. I don't dislike Franklin, but I don't know how you go from Chase Daniels to Blane Gabbert to Franklin, he's not much of a passer. Jarvis Jones will be the top defense pick in the NFL draft, that is one beast of a player, wow.

You're right, it doesn't get any easier. :)

Thought the new Tiger uniforms were UGLY! I miss the old ones with the M on the helmets.

Where was DGB? Did he get any deep passes thrown to him?

Franklin looked very ordinary after looking like an All American against the likes of Kansas, ISU, etc.

The spread just might not work in the SEC.

Mizzou was middle to maybe upper pack in the Big 12. Middle of pack is going to be common place in the SEC.

Georgia played a physical game that I don't think Mizzou is accustomed to. Men against boys.

And yes, KU sucks....again!!!! Dayne Crist is playing on two bad knees. He's not the answer at QB as hopeful as I was.
