Cinci:

Thanks for the tip.

I hate the NBA, but I like college hoops. Does anyone know if Sega´s new College Basketball 2K3, due in December, is based on the NBA 2K3 or NBA 2K2 engine?

I don´t want a game based on last year´s engine when a supposedly, and apparently from Cincy´s feedback, better version exists. If that´s the case, I´ll try NBA 2K3 even though the NBA could collapse tomorrow, and I wouldn´t care one bit.

Anyone know which engine College Basketball 2K3 is using?

Thanks,
PK

Cinci,

Thanks for the info. I´ve been going back and forth reading about 2K3 vs. Live. Being an Xbox owner and wanting to play online, it seems like 2K3 is my only option. I have to settle on one game as funds are tight. Have you played Live? If so, your thoughts? I guess this should be a slam dunk (sorry for the pun) with me getting 2K3, but want to make the smartest decision. Renting both would be ideal, but that money spent on rentals can go to feeding the family.

PK, loved your article. All this PS2 love from EA has really made me sick, and even made me reconsider my decision to stick with the xbox. My wife is telling me that I am driving her nuts.

Then there´s the GC issue. The PS2 and GC will have Dirt to Daytona (sequel to NASCAR Heat), and I want that game real bad.

Yes Sega´s NCAA game will be based on NBA2K3 and will have online play. I am looking forward to getting that game more than getting nba live or nba2k3. I have really soured on the NBA the last few years and if I get a nba game, it would most likely be sometime in april or may.

But NCAA 2K3 College ball should be fantastic, especially playing online with that college atmosphere. I will pass on March Madness also, being that it will not have online play and only will have like 100 teams ; whereas sega´s game has 300 teams.

BTW, IN NBA LIVE OR NBA2K3? Do they have AI for Refs to fix games??
Thanks for the compliments.

The EA shunning of the Xbox doesn´t bother me that much from a practical standpoint. Every EA series sucks a fat one except for Madden, NCAA and Tiger Woods, so I´m not missing much by EA skimping on Xbox games.

But I have a big problem with EA´s policy in theory. Either develop for all three consoles, or just drop the Xbox and GameCube and end the charade.

i hope you´re kidding about the ea thing. madden is great of course. live is incredible this year. i´ve only played it on ps2 but if you´re judging it by years past you´re missing out. beyond that moh is a great game and the original bond game goldeneye was incredible.
i am eating anger
First things first, welcome aboard, man. Glad to see you here. Stick around!

Second, I was a bit vague in my prior post. I should have said all EA Sports series suck a fat one except for Madden, NCAA and Tiger.

I haven´t tried Live this year, so I´ll take your word for it. But the four prior editions of Live were total crap and got worse every year. I am eager to try Live and the new "freestyle" control this year, of which I´ve seen mixed reviews.
