Dear PES-players,

We're writing to you as you participated – along with tens of thousands of other dedicated PES players from around the world – in our feedback survey.

We are changing and improving many features and aspects of PES this year and most of them have been specifically requested by fans like you.

We want to personally express our gratitude for your support and explain to you how your input has influenced this year’s development.

For example, you rated goalkeepers slightly above average to good – in other words: not good enough for PES. A common complaint about goalies concerned the lack of animations. Many of you also criticized how long it takes to bring the ball back into play after the goalkeeper catches the ball. To address the situation we sought advice from pro keepers and worked hard on AI. The result: far more options, many new animations and even different play styles.

Another example of how your feedback helped: many of you stated you prefer playing PES 2012 without use of any pass support. This inspired us to enable optional full manual passing and shooting. Thanks to new PES FullControl you can precisely place shots exactly where you want - if you can master the skills required of course!

Those are just a couple of examples of how your comments have helped. Visit our official website www.konami-pes2013.com later today to read more about our plans for this year. Keep checking back and we'll update you with exciting info screens as soon as they're ready.

So stay with us, follow us on facebook.com/PES, subscribe to our YouTube channel on www.youtube.com/officialpes and you'll be among the first to learn about all the exciting news we'll have in the run up to the game release this autumn.

Again thanks for participating in the survey and giving our development team suggestions to make PES 2013 the most beautiful game. We're delighted to have such a great fan base that motivates us to work even harder to provide you with the best football experience!

From an email they sent me.

Sounds good.

PES 2012 was a far superior single-player game to FIFA 12. Glad Seabass and Co. are keeping the pedal down, trying to widen that gap.

I'll preface this by saying I hope they make the best footy game ever....

Now that that's out of the way.

Here we go again. Typical konami and right on time.

Seabass sucks and this is why feel the way i do.

He was the man behind a great product on the last gen of consoles. He rested on a game that delivered great gameplay and crappy graphics for years. We bought it. We didn't care that we didn't have licensed teams as the game on the pitch was so freaking good. Seabass decided to take a nap .. and nap he did for years. The next gen arrived and gosh, the game wasn't the same and Seabass seemed to be ok with a less than stellar product. I'll save the long version as most of you know that while Seabass was sleeping, EA was hard at working trying to close the gap with konami. They did, and eventually all but threw dirt on them as Fifa 12 outsold PES 12 by a ratio of 25:1.

Every year we get the trailer promising something.. like "new and improved with total freedom controls" They then release a demo, which by it's remaining faithful this year say that Konami is the only developer whose demo's are better than the final build. I totally agree.

Seabass also breaks stuff that isn't broken. Year after year something is great and the community loves it. The following year it's changed for the worst and the community screams and requests they patch it.. Of which, despite their "we value your feedback" lip service, they do no such thing. Instead of fixing what is broken they announce the update and we all crap our collective pants as they didn't fix anything of the most discussed issues but gave us a few new boots, a couple of corrected kits and a roster update. BS. It's all crap.

And.. why is it that the world agrees that the best version of PES is always the community modded / patched / updated PC version? LEt's see. Why can the community make a better game than the developers.. maybe because unlike Seabass, the people responsible for the modded PC version actually listen to user feedback. The modding community it not shy about their abilities and are not selfish or prideful when they approach Konami on their forums and social network sites.. "we want to help you' is what they say and Seabass
ignores them all.

They also ignore north america, have struggled with online (although this year was the best i've seen it in a long time) and need to decided what they want their game to be.. fun or sim.

I honestly hope they give us an amazing product. As I did with the previous 3 versions, I'll buy it again in hopes that all of the magic has returned.

PES 11 & 12 were better single player experiences than the corresponding FIFA releases. I expect the same this year too, and if they actually make the goalies better that'd be a nice touch.

I do agree that PES is a better offline experience. I thought the shooting was great in 2011 and totally broken in 2012.

After all my talk about never playing career modes, I picked up on an abandoned Pes 2010 Master League and haven't played anything else for more than a month...FIFA 12 has fallen by the wayside, at least for the moment. On the back of my second honeymoon with Pes 2010, I tried Pes 2011 once again and, though I've clocked up more than 25 hours on the game in total, I can't really drum up much enthusiasm for it. Having spent a bit more time with the demo, I'll be picking up Pes 2012 in the very near future, but for the moment, I'm really enjoying the 2010 Master League experience.

Rhymes,

I too am still playing my ML in PES 2010. The pace is a bit too fast but the action is so exciting... Speaking only
For myself, the excitement of 10 is nowhere to be found in 2012. (that's how I ended up back on 10)

I still think PES 2011 has the best gameplay of all the next-gen PESs. I never could get into the arcady 2012 and 2010 had some fatal flaws (though I can't remember exactly what they were, but seem to recall they involved fouls not being called).

Must say I'm not terribly optimistic to see the ball-on-a-string dribbling animation in the brief thing with Ronaldo in the reveal. I would've thought that would be top of the list of things to fix...

Agreed on the pace problem. Damn shame they didn't put in the different game speed options for Pes 2010. For the moment, I'm playing with a self-imposed rule of only allowing myself to tap rather than press the sprint button. Playing on Professional rather than Top Player, the game plays out a bit slower and defending is actually quite interesting. With 2 matches to go, I'm looking good for promotion but I suspect that in the First Division, things could be tricky with my house rule. I'll see how it pans out. Speaking of Pes 2012, I've heard it said that gameplay on Superstar difficulty might be more balanced than on Professional or Top Player. Don't know if any of you guys have experienced that.

Regarding Pes 2013, the inclusion of fully manual passing would be a positive for me...the more gameplay options, the better IMO.

Boy.. isn't this about the same thing Konami is saying about 2013?? The more things change, the more they stay the same ;)

Total Revamp, Total Freedom, Total Soccer - PES 2011

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it will deliver a completely new soccer experience later this year with the advent of PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011, scheduled for release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii™ and Windows PC this fall. The publisher’s long-running PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER (PES) series will undergo the most radical revamp in its history.

The PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER franchise has long been regarded as offering incredible realism and control, however PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 will reinvigorate the series with the most advanced set of improved gameplay additions, control options and to catch up with the evolution of the real-life football. Central to its total freedom of play, PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 introduces a power bar for each player that allows the user to determine the exact strength and placement of every pass and shot. Balls can now be spread absolutely anywhere with surgical precision, with long balls into space, short passes to feet and intricate one-twos allowing the player to dictate play and control the tempo of a match.

This freedom of play is also extended via new AI routines designed to place every move and decision into the player’s hands. No longer will assisted AI intervene during matches; users will now need to sense and react to threats intuitively as opposed to chasing the ball; and passes will not automatically reach the nearest player. Instead, all-new routines facilitate complete control both of the player and their chosen actions in every respect to give the player sublime control over every movement.

Key to PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011’s new approach is a specially designed control system that allows total control over every element of play. The triangulation of passes and making space using clever runs becomes paramount, and building up a play will pay massive dividends. Additionally, dribbling and close control are tougher to master, and the days of making streaking runs through the centre of the park are over, as PES mirrors the real-life soccer.

The result is the most complete and realistic PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER to date. PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 delivers an evolved experience that still has the key PES ethos of skill and realism at its core, with every other aspect of the game being totally reworked as well, including:

Total Control: The PES Production team has enhanced the 360-degree passing ratio, offering unprecedented levels of control over every pass, shot, headed ball, throw-in, and through ball. This allows users to pass the ball into space, and move their play with total freedom. Players must precisely weight their passes and second-guess the runs of their teammates and exploit their movement, while lofted through-balls have an all-new level of accuracy.
Shot Stamina Gauge: In addition to the generic power gauge, the Shot Stamina meter details the player’s exact level of fitness. Constantly sprinting will affect the player’s movements and will have an adverse affect on his stats, with passes going awry and a loss of pace.
New Defender AI: Players now also hold their positions naturally, no longer chasing any ball that enters their area; preferring to close down the attacker and force them into a mistake.
Animation and Player Physics: The PES Production team has totally reworked every element of in-game animation. These additions will become clear before even kick-off, with the players enjoying fluid, natural movements, with more realistic acceleration and inertia than ever before. The physicality between players is also improved, which was a priority requested in PES forums. Jostling and blocking now looks stunning, while there is a larger variety of convincing tackling styles. Ambient animation also adds to the in-game atmosphere, as players adapt their running and movement styles in line with play.
Speed of Play: The new level of control means that PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 enjoys a more considered pace of play, which varies dependent on situations. The game will burst into life as counter-attacks come into play, but players can dictate the pace via slow build up or exploiting available space to surge forward. It is harder to make long runs from midfield, and successful play will depend on making quick passes to make room.
Improved Goalkeepers: In keeping with the basis of total freedom of movement, players now have more control over their keeper. This greater control allows for quick roll-outs, instinctive saves, pinpoint accuracy with goal kicks, and precision ball distribution to make quicker breaks or playing down the clock easier.
Aesthetics: PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2010 showcased the best likenesses in a football game, and PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 ups the ante further. Facial animation has been enhanced, but the key advances are over 1000 all-new animations which have been recreated from the ground up using over 100 hours of motion captured footage. Every aspect of player movement has been reworked, with more organic runs, turns, throw-ins, tackles, and interaction. The way players speed up and slow down is also more natural; while replays display elements of motion blur that bring your saved goals to vivid life.
Tactics and Strategy: The sheer number of options available in the PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER series has established it as a remarkably flexible simulation, allowing players to stamp their playing style on each match. The PES Production team has implemented an all new ‘Drag and Drop’ mechanism that can be used in every aspect of team management, not just substitutions or formation changes. These settings are also animated to promote better understanding of the plays that have been altered.
Feint Settings: PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER has always offered a wide range of subtle skills, feints and turns, but PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 allows users to map key skills to a specific control area, making them available via the second stick or via specific button presses, making them more accessible than ever before.

I really, really liked PES 12 on the PC (with, obviously all the fan-made patches) but I'll definitely agree with FifaInspected's previous thoughts - particularly Seabass also breaks stuff that isn't broken. --> that's so true. I still feel that the later J-League games on the PS2 were the pinacle of this series.

Will still get this one because I just feel single player in PES is still way better than single player in FIFA.
