MLB 2012 Season

Post by snaz16 »

Might as well start the baseball season thread since spring training has started. And the first bomb is Ryan Braun has won his appeal on performance enhancing drugs.

Eagerly awaiting the first Ozzie Guillen or Zambrano meltdown. :)

Hey I don't know if you heard but Terry Collins says Ruben Tejada has a chance to be "a very special player."

There's no better way to learn nothing of interest about sports than by talking to coaches and players (with some noteable exceptions).

Well, regardless of the reason for the positive test, the cloud of suspicion will hover over Ryan Braun for the rest of season.

Jays boosted their bullpen somehow this year, looking forward to see this young team perform well. Like the new unis too.

I am interested to see if Chapman can be successful as a starter for the Reds. I don't think it will work and believe he will be moved back to the bullpen.

Hope I am wrong.

Chapman's being paid what this year...6-7 million? Thats a little too much for a 7th or 8th inning guy. Time to take the kid gloves off this year. Overall the Reds got a good chance of winning that division this year.

Nice to see Redsox and Yankees getting swept during the weekend. 8) Jays take 2 from the Indians in CLE, looking forward to a big year from B. Lawrie.

- Tigers look like they will be a machine this year. Daaaaaam

- nice start by the Mets. Actually happy for their fans. They deserve it

- Girardi were completely out managed my Maddon this weekend. No exaggeration

- happy to see my Royals take 2 out of 3 from the Angels

- look forward to viewing Darvish pitch this evening. Actually, don't believe it will be televised

- hope Miami will lose every game. Don't like the 'sculpture' in CF. Don't like the uniforms. Don't like the owner. Don't like the manager. Don't like Jose Reyes

If the old guys can stay healthy, the Cards look locked and loaded for 2012. Hell, yesterday Matheny started the B team and they still rocked the Brewers. It was good to see the Saturday was just Greinke being awesome.

I'm still nervous, because even if Matheny is a smooth replacement for TLR, it's hard to imagine anyone being able to replace Duncan as their pitching coach. But so far, the arms look good.

But when you are counting on Furcal, Beltran, and Berkman to be healthy and locked in, a lot can go wrong. I love all of those guys. But I loved them 10 years ago, too.

Not the best outing by Yu Darvish as his nation mate Ichiro got a couple of hits, but he did end up with the win. Massive Japanese coverage in Texas for this game.

Jays blew their sold out home opener in the 9th as Santos couldn't come up with the save as D. Pedroia (always tough at bat) started the rally for the Sox winning their first game of he season.

Here's a mindblower -- According to Elias, Jamie Moyer has pitched to 8% of all hitters in Major League history.

Watching Yu Darvish pitch against the Jays last night was something else. This guy has just total command of his stuff, his off speed, and curveball were deadly. Despite giving his first homer in the league to E. Encarnacion (hottest TOR hitter), he never panicked and went on to pitch solid 7 innings. Whether it was true or not whether the Jays did pursue this guy in the offseason, Texas seem to have a gem in YU. Five wins in April with 2.18 ERA.

There's no more overrated accomplishment in baseball than a no hitter. Well at least to everyone but Mets fans who haven't ever seen one. :)

Mo Rivera injured his knee in pre game shagging. It looked bad. Probably an ACL.

Well you and I will disagree on that. With that said, the more I see of Bryce Harper the more I like. Thought he was sort of arrogant, but he has been playing the game right, including tonites game on ESPN with the hit by pitch(deliberate),1st to 3rd on a single, and stealing home on a throw over to 1st.With their pitching, this is going to be a fun division to watch.
