RIP Whitney :(

Sad news, a beautiful lady, great voice who got hooked up with the wrong crowd.

Agree with Rodster's sentiments. I blame Bobby Brown.

Very sad. A damn shame she got caught up with Bobby Brown as it seemed her career really sprialed down hill after that.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston. You had an amazing voice.

wow...on the eve of the Grammys. That sure will change the mood tomorrow night.

What a shame...only 48. Strange that they don't yet know cause of death. I's sure there will be a huge ongoing investigation.

Oh man, when I first heard it was like not too shocking - after she married that loser bobby brown, it went downhill from that. Then I got sad because I remember this song back when I was in Jr. High. It was sort of my first song with a girl I liked. And I remember how huge of a hit it was, because she was just fresh and so new. good memories with this one, but again, so sad to know she's dead while watching this :

And that SB national anthem rendition was probably her peak.

Still dont understand why some of these celeb's who have all the fame, money, everything need to do drugs and screw up their lives or die.

In her own words she fell victim to the race card which is how she got mixed up with Bobby Brown. The woman had everything going for her. Looks, fame, talent and pissed it all away when she took the bait.

Everyone is blaming Bobby Brown, but I guarantee you she was dabbling way before Brown came into the picture. She was responsible for her own actions.

For some weird reason I am watching the funeral this morning. I can't believe how positive they are doing it. It's sad but in a good way entertaining. African Americans and Irish sure got one up on everyone up on how to put on a good funeral.

RIP Whitney. You're Friends and Family sure did give you a good send off to the beyond!

Shockingly, cocaine one of the contributing factors. Sad.

So, cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, muscle relaxant Flexeril, and Benadryl. What a freaking loser she was. Perhaps the most surprising thing is no mention of alcohol.

True, but addiction is a nasty nasty thing, and happens even to the nicest non-loser people.

Damn, instead of saying "enough to take down an elephant" we should start saying "enough to take down a Whitney Houston". Drug addiction is sad but it is entirely brought on by the person who is addicted. It doesn't make somebody a loser but it does make them weak.

I'm an addiction counselor. That's what I do. And I don't, in any way, subscribe to the 'addicts just can't help it/it's a chemical imbalance/they aren't responsible for their behavior' baloney. Yes, addiction is tough. Yes, certain drugs do things to your body that make it really difficult to overcome. I get that. But a person is still responsible for their actions, despite the difficulty. If someone truly doesn't want to be an addict, that person can stop. I've seen it happen, even in opiate addiction, which is really nasty, because you have to live with quite a bit of pain (due to the brain stopping its' natural painkillers in favor of the drug) for a long time. Some turn to methadone, which is nothing but a placeholder...not a fix by any stretch of the imagination. But I've seen others just say "I'm tired of this s***...no more". Those folks are my heroes, because they decide that reclaiming their life is worth whatever pain they must trudge through to get there. That's awesome.
Houston was simply trying to find life after finding out that money and 'stuff' doesn't give it to you. That's what alot of those famous addicts are doing. Their piles of money didn't solve their damned problems, so they're looking elsewhere for happiness. It's a stupid road, but it's a slick package that draws 'em in. Getting out? It's not easy, but it's definitely doable, if you've got the guts and the desire.
