No one knows they don't release sales numbers. What do actual sales have to do with your statement. You said Steam sells mostly pc-centric games. I just showed you they sell just about anything on consoles. How many they sell is irrelevant at this point because the goal of the Steam box would be to allow more users and increase those sales.

COD, AC and a few other games are on every platform. A lot of PC games developers have ported to consoles, far more than console games ported to the PC.

So now you're supporting my point and proving your first statement was false that lots of console games are available on the PC.

Steam has over 50 million users, more than Xbox Live and we won't even throw Sony into the discussion. If Valve can get an established set top box into consumers hands that is comparable in price to a console you honestly think developers won't target the Steam box?

But hey if all you want is a games library heavy on FPS, RPGs and RTS games, then this Steam box is for you. Or just upgrade the PC you have already.

It was pointed out to me that my posts have been a little more pissed off lately. That person was correct and I won't go into the reasons why as they don't pertain to anyone here but I would like to apologize for anyone I insulted in this thread.

I'll now back out of the discussion and likely take a self imposed posting break for a while.

Back on topic, I think $400 for a new console is not unreasonable. A lot depends on how big the jump from 360/PS3 looks. I remember when I got my 360, I was a bit underwhelmed. The jump from the XBox didn't seem quite as dramatic as the jump from the PSX to the DC or PS2/Xbox. But I then I played Dead Rising, and when I hit the part where you drive through the parking garage while literally hundreds of zombies attack, that's when the change really sunk in. That's the kind of change I'm hoping to see.

1. No if the best-selling games are the genres commonly associated with PC gaming, it's rather relevant. Can they sell action or platform games in any significant numbers?
Sales kind of determines the nature of the gaming library.

2. Rhetorical question. Because the point is, Steam users are mostly playing PC games.

3. PC games that are ported to consoles are still PC games. COD is a PC game. Mario is a console game. Defining a PC game vs. a console game is as elusive as defining gameplay, but doesn't change the essential nature. The fact that they port to consoles to make more money doesn't mean a lot of those PC ports are good console games.


If this Steam box does come out, we'll see that it attracts more PC gamers than the other consoles. Probably will be able to use keyboard and mouse?

Back on topic to what Brando said. I think $400 for a next-gen console is a reasonable price. That's basically what a mid-high video card goes for. I've gotten bored with games lately on the consoles and have been playing a lot of tablet and Vita games.

If there is a killer must have game then I may pickup a system although I'm not sure if I'll buy both this time since the difference between the exclusive first party games was small this time around.

Ok you can capture and share video built into the system and also browse live in game video of your friends. You can also take control of their game. Sounds cool.

Ok this is finally getting good with the cloud service and live stream broadcasting of game play. They can also communicate with you and take control for you if your stuck.
